Great story for a renegade Shepard! I love the backstory plot and how it ties into continuity and how we also get an AU ending.

I like how the chapters alternate between Nihlus' and Shepard's POV, and the endings especially. The angst makes me happy :)

This was bloody excellent.
I never expected to actually enjoy a T rated story, since I'm usually all for having no holds barred on anything, whether it be cussing, sex, or gore, but this was so well done it hardly mattered.
Would love a continuation on the alternate ending you made.

Oh wow. I really, really like this. A lot. Your Shepard is fleshed out nicely, Nihlus is adorable, there are good comedic and d'aww-inducing and angsty portions. They all balance sweetly. I actually prefer your first ending, because that fits much better with your story synopsis-and that synopsis made me feel dread the whole time reading this in an odd masochistic way. Plus the first ending fits with canon better, and while I'm all for good AU, I want to pretend this is canon. That is how much I like this story.

This is definitely the best thing I've read in a while. Just. sfkjasfkj. Damn, this makes me regret more than ever how small Nihlus' role ended up being. This was just fantastic. Earthborn Shepard dealing with her past, and the uncertainty and complete lack of knowledge of each others respective species. The ending, the original, is well done, if not a bit tear jerking - but this ending, I love the chance for /more/. It's been two years since this was originally posted..? I wonder if you ever got far in the sequel. ;u;

I knew it. Freaking depressing. Firmly on my favorites list now. Is there a sequel I wonder? I'll have to check.

So, as I understand the early events of the first Mass Effect, Nihlus DIES. Which is both really cool for this story and simultaneously sucks balls.
