First off, the obvious: Don't let canon screw you up when you're doing just fine the way you are. Next, I can see little hints of the ring developing. Its thoughts seem more 'nuanced' even if its vocabulary hasn't increased any. But I am wondering why 'Will' wasn't sufficient for Jonah to force a connection with the dead gang member and he had to rely on 'Hate' instead. (I can see Jonah getting use out of 'Hate' and 'Fear', but have no idea if he'll be able to get anything out of 'Greed'. Jonah has never struck me as a particularly greedy person.)

As long as they don't got those things from 'Tremors', I think they'll be alright. Although it's clear the term Dragon Sweat is a more literal description than it might be otherwise.

I like how you used existing canon to give Jonah connections to the here and now. I doubt most folks would have remembered Vigilante's time in the past or Max Mercury's history either. I also like how you implied that Vigilante would be tutoring Jonah on the here and now without getting bogged down in meaningless details. Looking forward to Narcocorrido. I just hope I don't have to wait -too- long. 8)

An excellent ending to this story arc. (Though one delayed long enough that I was worrying about it ever coming.) Particularly liked the idea that 'being at peace' doesn't mean being non-existant. I look forward to seeing what the 'New Normal' will be for a man who spent over a century dead. Also, I expect the Black Ring to grow and develop over the course of the story. While it may be Jonah's 'student' now, I don't think it will remain that way forever.

I can see that Jonah is being very conservative (by his standards) when dealing with the here and now. Otherwise, there'd be two more dead. But this is clearly not going to be the last conflict between modern Rules of Engagement and the ones he is more familiar with. He needs a chance to further orient himself (a week in a library with someone who believes his story would be a good start), but I can see he's not going to get it. Carry on.
