This story makes no sense. Mostly the ending but I'll accept it.

I am too fangirl-y to even write a good review right now, but I'll try anyway! I loved the plot! it was so original and thrilling to read, and it was so well described! I could imagine I was there. The characters were portrayed perfectly, and Arthur was particularly well written! there aren't as many fanfics now that include what I think would be a real reaction to merlins magic. Everyone seems to think Arthur would forgive Merlin right away, after being a bit grumpy for ten minutes. This story is perfect. It shows that merlin NOT perfect and can give up. I had my pitchfork at the ready when you killed him off, but eventually, when I decided that Merlin probably wasn't just back as a temporary ghost, I put it away again... Untill I read all those other stories that I've just download from your page... I would like to have seen Merlin using more spells in the last couple of battles. he would have attacked Morgause with everything he had, and I diddnt feel like he did. That, and one or two grammar and spelling mistakes were the only problems I had with this! I am very likely to re read this story...

Arthur has collected all the clues but just can't put them together

Reading this story (when Merlin is done sniff) made me lose my ability to speak English. This was amazing.

It seems kind of counter-intuitive and extreme that Merlin would feel abandoned and "left to die" when he chose to remain behind. He wanted Arthur to leave in the first place for safety's sake. But good story-line so far. I like Sir Leon's interaction with Merlin...it's rare to read about his impressions about Merlin & Arthur.

this was absolutely fantastic. this is the first fic i have ever read that i think could be true. in other reveal fics merlin goes down without a fight saying he would never go against the prince, he would rather die. no one is that loyal. this is most likely how merlin would have acted.

I love the implied recital of all Merlin's heroism. I hate finding a retelling of the series in the middle of my story. I'm just wondering why Merlin chose to stay behind...

There is a lot I like about this. For one thing, it shows that Merlin is not perfect and can give up. For another, it shows Morgause not screaming "ew yucky Merlin", but accepting him as Emrys and wanting to work with him.

WOW. I rarely finish Merlin fanfics if they're multiple chapters, and almost never if it's a reveal fic. However, this was the exception! I can't say exactly, bit it moved well and the characterization was good! I also usually prefer later settings, when Merlin and Arthur are even better friends, but your writing made their friendship very believable and genuine! Thank you!

Wow. just wow. That's not even enough to sum up all i have to say about this story but it's all i have time to tell you right now. I really loved your story and I hope that someday, my stories will come somewhat closer to the caliber of writing that you churn out. I can never seem to write consistently, but you seem to be posting consistently. Kudos to you for that and for the Great job on keeping the Characters in character as much as possible when you take a story this far out of the norm for the series. :) I really enjoyed reading this and I hope to make it through the rest of your stories sometime tomorrow so you might get a few more reviews from me. :) once again, AMAZING JOB on this and keep up the great work. Definitely inspiring me to write more too! :)
