Oh my! I cant believe youve been writing this since 2011 ! Its amazing work i hope too be seeing more soon ! I really like knuckles and I just started reading sonic fanfiction. This work is just beautiful:)

Wow. I read that one first the day when you uploaded it, but I didn't trust myself to find the words, it's so intense. It's one of those chapters that are so emotional they leave you as raw as the characters.

But it's cathartic, too. Finally, they get a chance to breathe and process what has happened, because it sure was too much to sort through!

I winced a couple times along with either of them for the physical injury, because ouch! You described in in those painfully spot on and relatable way, too. So, good writing, I guess!

I really liked how you had us in their heads through this whole chapter. It's a perspective I enjoy writing from myself, this sitting in a character's head so you can see their world through their eyes and hear their thoughts in the narrative, and it works so well here. I think I found it most striking in the beginning, where Knuckles is all frazzled and struggling to even think straight, and you can feel it, through the jumbled thoughts and narrative. There's a very strong sense of being in their place. Immediacy, I think Awdures called it once.

Did I say I like your take on Chaos Energy and Chaos Control? Because I do, and this chapter has some more of it, about how Chaos Control feels to the characters. Somehow, you make it seem instinctual in a way (just think of home), but at the same time it's fickle and dangerous and incomprehensible even to its wielders. Chaos. :)

I was glad both of them sort of get that hug on top of talking it out with each other, because damn, all of that was needed. Good to see them at least get a bit of rest, too. Hope Knuckles won't be too mad with Sonic come the next chapter!

I can't... Can't... Man, Knuckles I really want to hug him right now! He's frustrated for god sake! Thank god Sonic could measure him for a while.

Fantastic chapter. I think this was a much needed break in the action. Sonic and Knuckles had a lot they needed to process, and after remembering just how bad things had gotten in the previous chapters, I needed that time, too!

I'm so glad the two of them had a chance to talk some. I don't think I've ever seen Sonic or Knuckles written as quite so weary or so painfully distressed about the other's well-being. There was some very raw conversation here.

I have so many questions about what's going on and what's going to happen next, but I share this chapter's sentiments: Sonic and Knuckles are alive, and for now, that's good enough.

Also, seeing your lovely birthday pic for Knuckles directly after reading this provided some extreme mood whiplash, but I'm happy to see him happy. Last Aggression is a killer piece, too! See you in 6 months? (ahaha, or whenever. This is a fic worth waiting for.)

You have one of the best characterizations of Sonic and Knuckles. Their interactions with each other are so amazing to read, especially with the way they're both dealing with the current situation. Overall this chapter as a whole is an emotional roller coaster.

I loved the chapter. You're doing an excellent job with the story.

It's a pause to collect and start to recover this chapter and it is needed I think - they've had such a blur of events with no time to stop and process. Even though they're no further along in solving the problem they seem closer to at least being on the same page with each other again and that's got to start to help at least!

And clearly they both need a huge cwtch at this point!

It's really well portrayed just how on the reaggedly edge they are - the galloping tumble of Knuckles trying to think straight enough to deal with the immediate physical dangers through to SOnic's frustration even through his concern. I'm right there with them it's so vivid.

And after I have no idea how long, I've caught up with this story, too. And boy, was it a ride! From this constant low burning tension between Sonic and Knuckles over the mysterious overall situation to the eventual confrontation, it certainly was the type of story to keep you on the edge of your seat!

I sure hope Sonic and Knux get a chance to work things out, before they get killed...

Did I say the atmosphere is cool before? Because the atmosphere is really cool. I only know Robotropolis from SatAM, so I don't know if or how they continued to use it in the comics, but it was this sinister place, part abandoned city, part almost junkyard, part death trap full of robota that could jump on you at any time, and you capture all of that here and make the location a really spooky place.

Need I say I'm a sucker for the energy stuff? I think you know, but just for the record, the way you make up this complex web of energies and interacting fields and how you go about describing the perception of them, it's awesome. Could read that all day.

Somehow right when I was thinking they'd be traipsing through this dark scary place getting ticked at each other for a while longer, you bring out the robots, and suddenly there's a fight and Sonic gets shot and then there are explosions and a mad run for theirs lives, with Metal Sonic acting mysteriously and it's such a rush I have no actual idea of what's really going on anymore. 0_o

Anyway, it was a great read again.

Oh ho, now this sounds very interesting. The mysterious entity's certainly got me hooked and I like what you've got planned so far.

“Eggsy likes to make an entrance” says Sonic early on in this part and doesn’t he just with with bells on! I’m starting this review kinds three quarters through the section because I love a really properly nasty Robotnik and that part rocked me back off my seat a bit. He is utterly sinister in his calculating cruelty, both in tormenting Knuckles and clearly perfectly aware that Sonic is stuck watching and can’t help. There’s a rather effective sense that, against Robotnik, Knuckles has come off worse, made mistakes too many times – or maybe just that first one biggie was enough – to not have much resilience left against that kind of psychological attack. Which, to be fair to Knuckles, really does hit every possible button - from years-ago mistakes which suddenly turn out to be way worse, to recent effects of the device. That ‘while you sleep’ threat is pretty horrifying given the string of blackouts early in the story.

There’s something SatAM ish or later STCish about Robotnik’s malice here I think. And something STCish in Knuckles’ reaction too – that’s he’s capable of that sort of total, catastrophic, ready-to-die-in-the-wreckage despair we do see (albeit not in such excruciating detail!) when Amy has to cosh him over the head to get him off of a falling Floating Island after he scattered the Emeralds.

Okay, doubling back to the sensible place to start instead of the over-enthused place… I enjoyed the ‘thinking aloud’ trying to work out what’s going on from both Sonic and Knuckles and likewise the clumsy attempts to work out how to fix the damage to their friendship. Sonic is trying SO HARD in places – and then, poor thing, totally loses it when Knuckles wanders off… And you just feel for both of them because from Sonic’s POV it is indeed an utterly unreasonable move, whereas it’s obvious as a reader, that Knuckles never really made any sort of deliberate decision to do it and is totally blindsided by how furious Sonic is! Quite HOW furious was another point that rather rocked me backwards – it’s not exactly the first time they’ve come to blows but for Sonic to be so utterly angry as to flatten Knux from behind really snapshots the level of frustration he’s dealing with.

I was fairly sure something disastrous enough to make them get it together would befall at some point or another – when Sonic was shot I thought that might be enough to do it – but...nope… not quite – this never went quite where I expected and that’s such fun to read!

Hopping about some more – the action scenes are pacy and I love details from the games in particular – how I LOATHED those mantises… How many times did I jump at them when playing and get taken out in mid-air the throwing-scythe-thing, rings everywhere, and cursing like a madwoman.

And hopping to the end of chapter – okay... Metal Sonic... And weirdness with a Chaos Emerald. The plot really has taken another twist or dimension to it now and I’m both baffled and intrigued!

Wow, just wow. What a chapter! I have so many things to say about this chapter.

First of all, I'm glad you're back!

Second. I love how you get the story to flow, the conversations between Knuckles and Sonic are priceless. In a way, Sonic makes me sad. He is not sure what has failed and is trying to make peace with his friend. He wants to be patient with him, but I get the feeling that he's losing patience. He is desperate to help, but also to get rid of the weight of guilt.

Knuckles is very confused, both because of his relationship with Sonic and everything else. He is frustrated. He takes the blame for not protecting the emerald well enough and is entering a loop where nothing he does seems to be enough. Now, it can only get worse and I really do not know how he is going to react. Because he will not be able to forgive himself for this and with Sonic hurt ...

In addition, with Eggman reaching into it, Knuckles will no longer be able to rely on something that, unwittingly, had always depended on. His link with the emerald and its senses.

The climate of tension that reigns throughout the chapter ends up "exploding" in a loop of despair that ends with the light of the emerald chaos. That is another thing that I admire about your chapters, you make the environment participate in the story. I can almost compare it to an orchestra, at first it sounds soft, then the rhythm increases to madness and then it ends with a blow. Amazing.

And something that I would like to ask you. I'm used to seeing Eggman as an almost comical and very ridiculous villain. Quite removed from the old Robotnik. Although it is obvious that a maniac genius at the head of an army of robots could not be so comical, I have noticed the Eggman of this chapter is extremely manic and sadistic. Playing with the worst fears of Knuckles and twisting them to break his mind. Especially that last sentence that he whispers. Wow. I do not know if you're trying to give Eggman's character a more realistic approach, trying to bring him closer to the old Robotnik or if something really sinister is happening to him.

I guess we'll have to wait to see it.

By the way, I liked that reference to the friendship between Knuckles and Eggman. It's a good detail

Oh my god! WOW. I had pretty much forgotten everything that had happened, so I had to go back and re-read the first six chapters (oh no, what a shame, she says with eye rolling sarcsam). This chapter was so good and the tension just ramped up and STAYED the moment that forcefield wall went down and trapped Knuckles with Robotnik. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS. What's up with Metal Sonic? What does he mean the frequency is in shift? WHY CAN KNUCKLES USE CHAOS CONTROL?! It would be such a shame if I had to wait 2 more years for the next chapter after you left this on SUCH A CLIFFHANGER.
...okay, okay, sorry, I just have a lot of emotions right now. I eagerly await tje next chapter!
