I just reread this story and still love it! I don't remember if I left a review the first time, but I have to tell you how wonderful this is. I know you wrote this before we know Astrid's dragon is called Stormfly, so even though reading the name Spike is a little weird, I understand.
I don't usually like first person point of view, but the way you let Astrid talk to her dragon while she sleeps is just so clever and freshening that I actually loved it!
And the whole story is light-hearted yet serious at times-it has the perfect balance.
Without the second, third movie, and the tv shows yet you still managed to portray all the characters so perfectly. Everyone is so in character! I am in awe.
I really enjoyed this story, and maybe I'll read it again in the future~

Why do you keep calling her dragon spike? Her dragon’s name is Stormfly. You clearly hear her say it several times in the trilogy.

My only question about this story is regarding the steamy chapter: am I to believe Astrid reveals all this aloud in sexy intimate detail to her sleeping dragon? Wow girl, didn’t know you had it in you. And would this start something in Spike? If a little mammal were pontificating about it’s life in the bedroom while I was trying to hibernate... hmm, I don’t know what I’d think.

It’s been a long time since I first read this and I came back for a second round! Gotta say, love that red death/green death controversy. Nice little shout out to the books. Well, with Oglaranna talking in all caps and being who she is, the whole chapter has a bookish feel. Nice!

Every moment of that talk, both of them frankly, was... Beautiful. I felt full to the brim with something warm by the end!

Astrids PoV can be utterly hilarious, like it was pretty much all of last chapter but this is honestly fantastic for what HICCUPS perspective must be! Just... The girl of his dreams tearing down his insecurities as though she knows exactly what she's doing, while we know she's struggling not to go googoo eyed over him and thinking up her pep talk as she goes bc her genuine reaction to realising he hadn't realised what so many other already had BECAUSE OF what had been said to him previously by those same people, was nothing short of passionate frustration

I had great fun reading this. A nice mix of humor with serious moments, though neither dwelt on so much as to be boring. I’m usually more of a Hiccup/femToothless reader when I find myself in the mood for HTTYD fanfics, so finding a good Hicstrid story is phenomenal.

I've read this twice now. It's just so good.
