Reviews for Volare
Areaaen chapter 1 . 2/21/2018
The beauty of Monteriggioni, the feeling that Desmond had, the connection between Desmond and Ezio, the skills that he was using, Desmond stava davvero volando, he was truly flying.È così bello. It's true! I love it.

It was a pleasure to fave :) Your reply to that pushed this up on my to-review-list, actually xD

It's a cute ficlet, I like the spirit of it, and you capture it gracefully. I love Desmond-centric stories, anyway, whether they be exploring the negatives or positives of his animus-induced skills. Obviously, there's a lot more negative stories out there, or the advantages in a practical sense, so I enjoyed that yours is simply about the joys and Desmond enjoying it. Love it.

Now that I've played Assassin's Creed I finally know who this Desmond person is and could read your story! (and I just couldn't wait for an update on the Enslaved fic - I had to get my daily dose of your storytelling ;)) And I love this little piece. The mention of Altair gave me goosebumps, and the bond that ties the three assassins together was really well captured.

I was so charmed by this fic. Very often the bleeding effect in Desmond has writers portray him as a man on the edge of a precipice, on the verge of losing his mind. Modern day fics exploring his mentality and psychology are dark in tone and makes me wince for Desmond's twisted state. First he's literally becoming mentally unstable and he's getting little sympathy or support from his allies on that front; Desmond must be lonely as literally none of his companions can understand what he's going through. Or you have the Desmond whose bleeding effect comes out in the form of identity crises one right after the other, with ghostly/tangible appearances and/or vicarious experiences of Altair/Ezio egging them on.

But this fic! It's a breath of fresh air. It's so positive and gleaming, so frenetic in its delight and freeing in its lyrical tone, that I can't help but really appreciate Desmond's uninhibited response. Honestly, it makes me nostalgic for my first playthrough of Brotherhood when I, too, was running around modern day Monteriggioni like a crazed fool. Little details bring out life in this fic like the cicada's collective memory and the ghostly steps of old Renaissance folk.

O.o...I, I've never read an Assassin's Creed fan-fiction so, spiritual, I guess. Man, I, I really can't think of anything to type here. How did you come up with this?

What a gem! This is brilliant! Superb even. The sense of freedom that Desmond was experiencing was writting perfectly. Thanks for this!

This...This was just lovely...

The imagery, the descriptions, it painted a potrait of serenity and calm.

And amoung that Desmond's unbound energy and eagerness...simply beautiful.

Just a thought, how about having someone watch this? Shaun can come outside for a breathe of fresh air and choke on his tea on seeing Des' silhoutte running around on rooftops...or better Des can convince him to join him and both of them climb the villa and share a first kiss with the moon behind them...;P

just a thought, care to write more?
Von chapter 1 . 4/5/2011
This is something I always loved about the game. Desmond running through the town that only moments before had been alive and vibrant always had a strange mix of loss and triumph. Like time had moved on, but the town still stood - even if the villa didn't.

Gorgeous scene.

Your description of everything is so visceral and in the present, I love it. You can almost taste the wind and hear the sounds that Desmond (and Ezio) experience. And for once, Desmond seems to benefit from the bleeding effect versus the usual psychosis. Great story!

I... there's... Gah!

Why are there so little reviews?

Thank YOU for writing and uploading this masterpiece.

The spirit in this is extraordinary and a really nice change of pace from all of the Bleeding Effect stories out there. While they have their place, there's something wonderful for Desmond feeling more connected and better for knowing something about those who came before them. Your description of the city and the weather were both realistic and not overly romantic. Thanks so much for this it was a great piece!
