Reviews for Couper la Poire en Deux
pitkat chapter 6 . 4/4/2014
Interesting read! Slightly different take on Zevran in my opinion, but certainly captures his character. I'm not so sure if liked the split in the language with footnotes - if the POV is from Cauthrien the entire story, then the audience should be able to understand what she does and says. This would makes sense that she doesn't understand Antivan, but you could have simply stated that she was speaking/reading Orlesian and that her companions were clueless. I enjoyed the slow character build and backstory that is revealed. Usually I don't like present tense, but you managed it well. Keep it up! Happy writing!
TC Belle chapter 6 . 1/6/2012
I just finished reading this story today - I nearly skipped it but I am glad I didnt.

I enjoyed every moment of it - Zevran was so in character (at least how I view him).

I am especially impressed with how every single word you chose was required, there were no unwanted words cluttering the story.
Tatiana1 chapter 6 . 11/20/2011
I love this story, and the most unusual pairing too. You made it work, with keeping everyone in character - very, very impressive.

I hope you will write a sequel one day, I'd love to read more about these two are a pair.
IVIaedhros chapter 6 . 10/1/2011
Those are some very creative insults and this has been a fun read.
Velf chapter 1 . 6/29/2011
I love this story. It is an unusual pairing but u managed to sell it to me. You did not over sweeten the romance either, which is often a mistake in fanfics about zev. The plot was tight and moved at a good pace and the fight scenes in particular were written beautifully. I would have liked to have seen where our couple go from here, see if zev and our lady knight stick together or part ways amicably. Anyway, thank you, a joy to read.
mutive chapter 6 . 6/27/2011
I love this ending. The fights were vivid and believable (and intense for that, despite that you know Cauthrien must win). And the romance at the end was lovely. I do so adore it when stories don't end up all riding off in the sunset, but with a more mature, realistic view of love. (And the idea that it doesn't have to be permanent to be wonderful.)

I do very much hope that you find time to finish a few of the others soon! I can't wait to see your epic and everything else!
Judy chapter 6 . 6/25/2011
Excellent!
mutive chapter 5 . 6/13/2011
Oooh, a fun update as always. ;) I love Cauthrien's admission that she screwed up but will fix things, and I can't wait to see her dashingly go off to rescue Zevran. ;)
IVIaedhros chapter 4 . 6/10/2011
Although you have some good comedy in there, the length and the themes really make this "feel" like it should be a more serious fic'. Zevran is incorrigible, but he's shown to be a good deal more and we need that here. In a similar vein, Cousland's overdone nature and her crazy relationship with the royals saps much of the potential punch of the story...it's like the story isnt' tongue in cheek enough to get over the subject matter and Cautherine's nature or it should lose the almost all the humor.

All that said, this was still a well written and an enjoyable fic' I certainly hope you continue this.
mutive chapter 4 . 5/27/2011
Oh, very sexy. ;) I am definitely loving this incredibly odd pairing. (And Cauthrien most definitely needed to get laid here. ;) I am curious to see how the rest of the mission will work out, although I admit that the romance is perhaps of more interest! As always, I can't wait for more!
mutive chapter 3 . 5/20/2011
As always, I am loving this. There's the intricate characterizations, the entirely sexy smut (and that is incredibly difficult to do), and the elaborate world building that never feels forced. I can't wait to see more. This is an exquisite work that becomes more enjoyable with each progressing chapter.
Prisoner 24601 chapter 2 . 5/16/2011
Wow, this... this is really good. I mean, I have a total, irrational weakness for Ser Cauthrien stories and a real love for stories that shine the spotlight on two of the NPC's instead of being warden centric, so this hits all of the right buttons for me.

This is really well written and interesting. It would never, in a million years, occur to me that these two characters would play off each other so well, and yet they do. Her decent into alcoholism, the way he provokes her and her reasons for going on this mission really ring true. It's a real shame that this story isn't getting more attention. I can't wait to see more.
mutive chapter 2 . 5/16/2011
I am loving this tale of failure and redemption, and the delightfully complicated romance that is blooming between the two of them. (It is only a matter of time, I have a feeling.) I love how delightfully well done both are - the layers of character both for Cauthrien and Zevran (who, manages to simultaneously be a shameless flirt, an awesome warrior, and a kindly therapist - it's hard to get all those into one!) A lovely update, and I cannot wait for more!
mutive chapter 1 . 4/18/2011
OMG, this is awesome! I love, love, love the descent into misery and alcoholism (poor Cauthrien, but I can see it...) and look forward to the slow recovery from it. Zevran taunting her is rather hilarious and sad at the same time (a difficult feat to pull off). And the bits of news at court are interesting. Elissa and Anora? Well...I suppose it's entirely possible. I can't wait to hear about the trip to Jadar!
Aziethe chapter 1 . 4/18/2011
I find this idea intriguing, even though I'm not entirely convinced that Cauthrien would go down that route (not that it matters, since it seems like she'll be too busy for self pity for some time yet.)

Also... f!Cousland as the queen's lover? Did I read that correctly? How did they manage to kill Loghain? (since Anora won't marry, or presumably, bed anyone who kills her father).

Hoping to see more.
