This goes to show just how far Hermione had fallen. She made a critical error in her assumptions concerning Harrys' changes. It all comes back to good ol' Fumblemort. He ensured Harrys' parents died leaving him an orphan. He placed Harry in an abusive home and never bothered to check if Harry WAS being well treated. He sent Hagrid to take Harry to get all his school supplies. He allowed Voldemorts' spirit into Hogwarts during its' possession of a teacher. He did nothing to keep ALL the students safe when a Troll was in the school. He brought the Philosophers Stone into the SCHOOL to keep it safe from the very person who wanted it. He hired a supposed former Death Eater to supposedly teach Potions in the school. He allowed that same man to verbally abuse students not in his House. I think you now get the picture. It all comes back to Fumblemorts' actions or lack thereof. It's quite obvious from canon that the old fraud never intended to train Harry to defeat Voldemort. He knew Harry had a Horcrux in his scare and there's no evidence he did anything about it. There's not even a hit that he consulted any other magical race about removing it before leaving Harry with the Dursleys'. During the ten years before Hogwarts. After starting Hogwarts. Not a single clue he ever intended to do anything other than train Harry to be a martyr. After having to defend himself and killing a teacher Fumblemort simply patted Harry on the head and sent him home with no help to deal with what he'd been forced to do. After fighting a Basilisk in the same school Fumnblmort did the same damn thing in Harry's second year. Third year he allowed Dementors to be placed around the school supposedly for protection. These same Dementors attacked a Quidditch game with ALL the students there. Does any of this sound like a responsible adult let alone the Headmaster of a school?!

A truly excellent work, also the only “soul bond” fix I’ve ever read where Harry and Hermione’s relationship was actually still an enjoyable part of the story. Well done!

Ch 7 - Harry’s tantrums, both emotional and magical, are entertaining but I hope he finds a better coping mechanism than mindscape hugs PDQ. That said, Snape was being an utter bastard. I don’t know what’s more magical about Hogwarts - the spells and potions or the teachers being able to do absolutely anything without getting fired.

Ch 6 - I like the two magical signatures, but I’m going to need a good explanation of why she’s having memory problems but still able to cast charms she doesn’t know and occlude Dumbles. I could get behind the soul bond thing, I think.

Ch 5 - Ron is not an asshole? Kudos on your choice there. Weasley bashing is far too common. Now, if you will also make the rare choice of having the time traveler just straight up tell the good guys everything she knows about the future, I will nominate you for a Ferret of Excellence in Fanfiction Writing, which is a highly coveted award I just made up.

Ch 4 - She has now forgotten the Bubble Head Spell? Has she forgotten the whole time travel thing? Why is Crooks acting weird? What kind of crack is Dumbledore smoking? I demand answers! On to the next chapter.

Ch 3 - What a way to wake up! Yikes. I am glad they are already snogging. Slow burn romance is overrated.

Ch 2 - Hermione is amazing. I love her.

Ch 1 - Drinking a wine slushie, tearing up over your story. You’re getting me right in the feels.

I really like the Hermione/Harry story. Well done. The right mix of action, romance and drama.

Harry casts two spells at Nagini, connecting with one. Why no effort to kill the snake Horcrux?

Dumbledore in this story, other fanfictions and canon constantly asks for forgiveness as he’s a foolish old man. This prompts 2 thoughts,

1. If he stopped meddling or keeping secrets so much, he might have less to apologize about.
2. If he wasn’t constantly granted forgiveness, maybe he’d suffer some consequences and learn some lessons.

I really like this start.
