Crystalzap chapter 1 . 7/30/2018
sweet ending
I was rooting for Merlin to miss on purpose and keep Arthur from killing the deer out of annoyance. Poor little woodland creature.

Fabulous. I do hope you'll consider writing more Merlin stories. Your writing is eloquent and multi-layered. Thanks so much. I'm glad I discovered these two fictions.

This was so good! I'm a lot like Merlin when it comes to hunting. I like to eat meat just as much as the next person, but still. lol Perhaps I should give it a try. :P

Loved the bromance in this. Nice fic!

Loved this story! It showcases the great frienship that underscores the class distinction. I always love it when Arthur shows the human side of him that makes him the perfect future king of Camelot. I loved the finale where Arthur knights everyone, defying his father's edict, to reward them for their loyalty despite the class differences. He and Merlin are a quirky pair and that's the beauty of their frienship.

Face part:

Gaius goes back to his cleaning with a meager shrug. "It seems to me he wanted to spend the time with you, to make you understand something that he enjoys doing," he says.

Merlin just stares at him. "We are talking about the same prince, aren't we? Prince Arthur? Of Camelot?"

Gaius glances at him. "In the time I have known Arthur, he has very rarely taken any servant or knight on a private hunt," he says. He quirks an eyebrow. "Not until you."

Gaius doesn't say more because he doesn't have to. Merlin understands the insinuation. Understands that somewhere in the smugness and the condescension, Arthur might actually respect him more than he thinks. Understands that somewhere in the resentment and exasperation, Merlin may respect Arthur more than he wants to admit.

- I love Gaius's wisdom here. He's the much needed perspective.

Love it!
