Bluewillow78 chapter 1 . 4/15/2015
The bitterness beneath the charm...the Anders that was & the person he'll become were never that different. As we can see when wonderful writers like you take the time to illuminate these off screen moments.
commander-shakarian chapter 1 . 5/3/2014
Oh Anders. :) Great description of the events leading up to his conscription. This really seems true to his character.
Pint-sized She-Bear chapter 1 . 3/5/2012
Really well written :) You captured Anders perfectly.
Rose Tinted Contact Lenses chapter 1 . 8/9/2011
This fic is amazing - while, frankly, depressing as hell, it's also a spot-on character assessment of Anders. Though what happens in it is brutal, we can sympathise with Anders here, and you can sense his exhilaration when he finally gains his freedom. In a word: Wow.
karebear chapter 1 . 8/7/2011
Hot damn!

So many feelings rushing through me here. The first: "hey I got a shout-out!" *happy dance* Thank you, for that! It means a lot. :)

And the rest, basically comes down to... "oh, Anders..." You write him *perfectly*

I think my heart rate sped up. I want to hug him, I want... to tell him I understand even though what he's doing is *scary as hell*

I think this *is* his turning point, the moment he grows up. *Anything* for freedom.

Once he realizes that he's lost Irving's protection, once he realizes that when the Circle "broke" (not that it wasn't always broken for him), there's no reason for *anyone* to give him even the shadow of a chance anymore...

And the end, the last lines: "I didn't do it" - But he wishes he did.

Pretty heartbreaking actually. That's not the Anders that I want Anders to be. He deserves to be happy, he deserves to have other people *like* him, he deserves to be a nice guy. But the Circle broke that part of him. The Circle breaks everybody. :(
MLHawke chapter 1 . 8/7/2011
This was a really neat piece. We always hear about Anders running, or that he has been caught, but at no time do we hear what being caught actually means.

I think this also puts a new dimension on the Templars. One would think that with being raised by the Chantry and being "holy warriors" they would be more... human.

It's another interesting piece, and you fit a lot of depth into it, considering how short it is. Thanks for sharing it!
deagh chapter 1 . 8/7/2011
This is a real insight into where Anders'/Vengeance's anger comes from. While we don't actually see a lot of this happen in canon, it's fairly heavily implied behind the scenes, such as Rylock's obsession with catching Anders. Very well portrayed!
MsBarrows chapter 1 . 8/6/2011
Oh, very excellent! Pretty brutal in spots, but it certainly does a good job at conveying an Anders with a lot of repressed (and not so repressed) anger.
Amanda Kitswell chapter 1 . 8/6/2011
*laughs hysterically* Maker, I love the end. This is just so well written, and a great insight into Anders and what happened to set up the scene at Vigil's Keep. "Er... I didn't do it," is one of my favorite lines throughout the entirety of the Dragon Age Series. XD Awesome job.
