Reviews for Dark Destinies
SilberFrost chapter 22 . 4/14/2013
I forgot to put this in my last review- If you do make a sequel, I would be very happy. You left it open, and this was so amazing and I would love to see a sequel. If not, that is fine, but if there is going to be- that would be amazing. You're a great writer, so keep it up!
SilberFrost chapter 23 . 4/13/2013
This was probably the most amazing Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic I have ever read, and is in the top five of any great fanfiction story I have read. This story was amazing, and the part about being rejected from the afterlife? Brilliant. Congratulations, this story is amazing, and you are a wonderful writer.

ll Kairi ll chapter 23 . 4/16/2012
I would have reviewed earlier... but, I was trying to think on what I would say. Don't get me wrong, this chapter was amazing... except for the end. I know you've probably heard all sorts, but mine ain't bad, if that's what you're thinking. o.o

The ending was bitter, bitter bitter sweet. Like sweet as how Yugi wasn't going to give up ((LOVED the last line because that was totally true) but bitter, because even though Atem had done all of that stuff, you would think the Afterlife would let him come because he sacrified himself for the world, giving up his soul to save mankind. The afterlike is a phooney!

Lisa: You're not supposed to say that! o.o

To bad! They deserve it! :(

Over all, this was an amazing story. And I can't believe it's your first! Mine was so crappy! :O I really loved how everything flowed though.

It just makes my heart break about Atem. I hope something will happen so he can be able to redeeme himself. Like a certain amount of years go by and- well, I don't know.

I'm interested though, do you have another story in mind?

Great chapter and amazing story. There's very few stories I have read who have biiiiitter sweet endings. :'(

Can't wait to read more from you!

That ending was too much! Over-all, the story, plot and characters are interesting and fun to read. Could you please make an alternate ending. For the sake of the three-thousand years old Pharaoh who sacrificed his life for the world? And what happened to the players; to Ehecatl? Did he find out what happened to his sister?
RedRosePetal chapter 23 . 4/15/2012
I am staring at the review box thinking what can I say?

Everything about this chapter was increditable there is not a single thing I can say was the best as that would be an injustice to all the others parts.

I think that you should be very proud of this story!

Be sure to know that I shall be re-reading this many time :)

Well done :)
shmeepeh chapter 23 . 4/15/2012
Yugi and Atem's shadow game was incredible. It was a beautiful flow from a broken Yugi and arrogant Atem, to a determined Yugi and broken Atem...

I... love you so much for this ending. You actually *went there*. Poor, poor Atem... but this is really how it should be. I hope he will find redemption some day, because it is really heartbreaking.

Thank you for the kind response to my review. I'm glad you liked it-you certainly deserve every bit of praise for this story.
Zehava chapter 23 . 4/15/2012
OHMYGOSH. This was so sad...! ;O;

I mean, I absolutely adored it and that was an awesome way to end the Dark One. Had it a long time coming he did...

Poor Atem and Yugi though... I guessed right on the fear for Yugi though~! Hehe, proud of meself... Didn't see Atem's fear though being that at all. It would totally suck if you would just be destined to be trapped within shadows for the rest of your life...

Maybe-if you wanted to get a happier ending-you could think that when Yugi died his soul could maybe keep Atem's company though that may be creepy I suppose. 8D;

Anyway, you did so amazing so thank you so much for writing this! Oh my gosh this seems so long...
Scaehime chapter 23 . 4/15/2012
How could you end this fic just like that? ...Guess I should have realized it wouldn't be a completely happy ending since it's labeled as Angst...

There is a redeeming factor, though: that very last line.

God bless!
Youngbountygirl chapter 23 . 4/15/2012
Wow, I just almost cried. This was a really good fan fic. Will there be a sequel?
DarkHeartInTheSky chapter 23 . 4/15/2012
Awwww :( Poor Atem. It's weird really. Part of me just can't help but feel sorry for him, but another part knows that he's getting what he deserves. He was careless and blinded by his need for victory. If he had listened to Yugi, then he wouldn't have ended up how he did.

Well, it was a good story, despite the sad ending. You did very well for your first fanfiction. Mine sucked. I really liked reading this story.
pro-alipro chapter 1 . 3/28/2012
Finish this please! this is one of the nicely-writ stories I've read so far. it'll be a waste if it goes unfinished. Please!
Nope nope I am out of here chapter 22 . 3/28/2012
I love this fanfic. It's awesome!
shmeepeh chapter 22 . 3/28/2012
(-this review contains some spoilers-)

I am so impressed with this story. You’ve done an excellent job with the plot, creating and putting into play likable OCs, sticking to the canon where it fits, and giving everyone their chance to shine.

I am too lazy to review each chapter, and for that I apologize! But I did want to give you a proper review now that I have reached the end of what you have uploaded.

1) Plot: wow! I know you’ve mentioned that a lot of these chapters were re-written, so I can’t comment on how this was originally... however, everything flowed beautifully. I would basically lock myself in my bedroom, turn the lights out, find appropriate music, and just immerse myself. And quite often get spooked out. Very rarely did I feel like I truly knew what was going to happen. You’ve thrown many unexpected curves at me. The pieces of plot that were predictable were done so in a good way, as it made sense to the canon characters. Most notably, Atem and his plan to unite all of the players. I also was very happy to see Atem would lose his way more than once. He simply wouldn’t be Atem if he didn’t attempt the whole “unity” business—and fall short without Yugi. Maybe someday he will learn he has limits(like in the next chapter?). The game you’ve built up is brutal. But it still has a distinct Yu-Gi-Oh/YGO-DM universe-feel, without all of the childish, shounen fluff. Win!

2) OCs: I love them. What’s even better is I am still unable to tell whose side they are on, and in my book that directly translates to them being a very welcome addition. They are still a threat, but they’re also a boon. Unpredictable. They’re real people. The only complaint I have here, is out of the whole group of people that were gathered to fight the Dark One, only one of them was defined. I understand that they are minor characters/pawns essentially, but in that respect it’s almost as if they shouldn’t exist. More of Rat and Ehecatl interacting with those players wouldn’t have felt like fluff. Those two serve as our medium of information of the Dark Game’s history, with Ehecatl serving as the man who’s supposed to know as much about the players as the Dark One himself. If you just didn’t have any inspiration for other OCs, the plot still could have worked with only Hermoine, Rat, and Ehecatl helping IMO.

3) Sticking to canon: I’m having a love-hate relationship with your canon-glue, if you don’t mind me putting it that way. You are great at keeping everyone believable to their characters. However, it seems as though this story is leading up to the inevitable point where Atem goes back to the afterlife (or for the first time, as your story is set) and both he and Yugi are finally okay with it. It’s probably the only way for the story to end, but I’m a sucker for any story that actually allows him to stay and actually have a life to live. Unlike the one he ended up with: dying before he even becomes a man, and living in a suspended state for 3,000 years (leaving the reader to interpret what those 3k years were like for him), then as a guardian spirit of sorts. Then again, a story is more memorable when it has a bittersweet ending. Would we still care about DM enough to dream up stories about it 10 years later, if it had a typical happy ending? Probably not. (I actually had a laugh at your Kaiba. He’s actually truer to the canon here than even the anime was.)

4) Everyone gets some love: From your OCs to nearly everyone you’ve placed in the story, we have been able to see you write at least one really good scene for them. Even Tea! It even looks like it will be Yugi who’s the star of the final dark game, which appears to be building up to a huge tear-jerker. You’ve nailed their greatest fears IMO. Great job. Looking forward to the Atem vs Yugi finale so much! (I hope you don’t disappear now :p)

Above all, I am so sorry if I come off as fangirling, but I am very appreciative of a good, well-thought read on this website. :]
