Reviews for Semper Fidelis
Glass Arm Shattering chapter 5 . 8/31/2017
Sweet butter crumpets!

Why is it that the best stories have the fewest reviews? It's criminal that an absolute GEM like this one is apparently so obscure. I mean, I'm the first person to review Semper Fidelis on in over 4 years, and even I haven't watched the Show itself in almost 2. Just crazy.

That being said, I don't think there's very much I can say that hasn't already been said. I'm so thoroughly impressed with how you characterized Applejack and Soarin's relationship. I didn't review It's Always Sunny in Fillydelphia, but I adored that prelude so much as to add it to my list of my favorite fanfics I've ever read. I didn't expect this spell you wrote to be so captivating, yet here we are. You took a superb romance story and turned it into an adventure one as well. I love your takes on Soarin and Rainbow Dash. I love the humor in this story. I only feel like there should be more. But that's what a great artist does, does one not?

Pat yourself on the back for this one, pal. You're a beast.
Queeny Pants chapter 1 . 2/11/2013
This direly needs more love.
It's wonderfully written, original and a sweet little adventure. Soarin and Applejack make quite the interesting little couple, with their witty dynamics and such. I really hope you'll write more for them, you're one of my favorites
Lyanna chapter 5 . 9/30/2012
I LOVE APPLEJACK X SOARIN! Your fic was WONDERFUL, please continues to write more stories about this couple is really my favorite (I love Applejack)...
CheddarandPretzelCombos chapter 1 . 7/9/2012
Me, being someone who will slap someone who ships Soarin with somepony other than Rainbow Dash, will refrain from slapping you just because you made a SoarinJack shipping story so good. I read the prequel as well and was very impressed. The only bad thing I have to say about this is I wish Rainbow Dash was a bigger character in these stories. But that's just me, Rainbow is my favorite of the ponies. Do me a favor and write a SoarinDash fanfic! Plz, plz plz!
hawkeye35 chapter 1 . 7/6/2012

Anthony1l chapter 5 . 6/15/2012
This story is hilarious, interesting, original, touching, and unique.
JakeTheArmyGuy chapter 5 . 11/27/2011
Very good story. Action packed, great dialogue, and good use of the source material.
Guest chapter 5 . 11/16/2011
I thought this story was amazing very well written. I didn't understand tirek until I read the fan fiction midnight in ponyville which I also recommend everybody should read as it has a lot of good information on tirek
Shingie chapter 5 . 10/15/2011
This was SO good! - It's so amazing how you fleshed out the one little moment of Soarin from the Gala episode to THIS. I love how you built his character and the interaction between him and Applejack just makes me squee. It was awesome how you integrated moves or invented up techniques that the wonderbolts would have. There were so many bits that cracked me up - Apple Bloom checking her flank after hearing her family story, and Dash wanting another autograph so her old one didn't get lonely, and Hooves was just lulzy in general LOL. You did so great in describing the action, my adrenaline was racing and my heart was pumping just as rapidly. I could picture everything so clearly. Also, it was well plotted and planned out c:

Sigh. This was just perfect *-* I ship them so hard now LOL. I'm not sure if I can find something else of this calibre in the rest of the FF stories... /sadface What are you going to write next?
Gwendolyn368 chapter 1 . 10/6/2011
This is one of the most awesome things in the history of everything :D
Celestia's Paladin chapter 5 . 9/13/2011
Great story, ok so I had to do a little research on the badguy and the 'Hyu-man' so good job on crossing the other MLP series in FiM. So I do have to ask will there be anymore Soarin/Applejack stories coming soon? ~GraysonPaladin
Clever Eagle chapter 1 . 9/10/2011
Ok I just have to say, this story was AMAZING. I seriously stayed up all night reading it. And I was so tired that I had to get some sleep before I could even write a review that would do this story justice. These are some things I loved about it:

-The characterization was dead on. Everyone's actions, lines and feelings are believeable.

-The dialouge just made me squeal and jump up and down like the fan-girl I am in the romantic parts, and almost made me cry in other parts. Very well done.

-Original plot that made sense within the story.

-OCs, or cross-over characters? That were written, and developed wonderfully. They had a life of their own. Usually, I hate OCs, because very few authors are talented enough to make good ones. You are one of the few.

I'm just so amazed with how many great pieces of writing and art etc come out of the MLP:FIM fandom. But then, this fandom is pretty unsual and diverse, so I shouldn't be so surprised. Anyway, as an English major, I admire writers that can weave a story as well as you do. Thank you for such an enjoyable story.
Swashbucklist chapter 5 . 9/3/2011
This is why I read fanfiction, to find thrill rides like this that the canon isn't likely to deliver. A Wonderbolt is the perfect MLP character to star in an action-adventure romp like this, and with all the suspense, mythological references (in the MLP universe), and epic dogfights, I can't imagine anything that could have made it better. I loved every word of Semper Fidelis and hope you write more action-themed stuff at some point.
Swashbucklist chapter 2 . 8/26/2011
Two chapters in, this story has eclipsed my disappointment over the lack of updates to "Fair Feather Friend", which is one of my top five favorite ponyfics. Regardless of how good "It's Always Sunny in Fillydelphia" is, it looks like it was just a prelude for a thrill ride. This sequel is far more enjoyable thanks to the fact that it's equally well-written and an action-adventure, which is my absolute favorite genre.

Just like in "Always Sunny" AJ and Soarin's relatinoship is handled expertly. They know each other well enough to communicate unintentionally or without words (Applejack realizes Soarin won't be able to fly them out of town and gets him to admit it) with enough bumps and arguments (same example) to make their interaction imperfect and therefore interesting.

The action sequences are all interesting, too. Some of my favorite types of situations are there: Soarin keeps finding himself matched against antagonists that are clearly more powerful and dangerous then he is. Each one demonstrates new skills, which forces him to continuously pull out new tricks, some of which don't work. The plan he devised from the fact that he's *not* the best flyer made me clap. I've read two of these so far, and I can't wait to see what the next set of dragons will be like, or if something completely different will happen. The wrecked village below and the dark clouds hovering over what was once a peaceful seaside town make for a great atmosphere for all this action to take place.

It's also ripe with clever references and wordplay. The dragons' mythological names are all probably ones I should know, you seem to have a few pony puns like "Sierra Maredre" up your sleeve, and the I also like your little alteration of that X-Men line that so many people dislike. the Applejack-tastes-like-apples bit was a comical, romantic cherry on top of that huge action scene.

Sorry I can't be more analytical than that. Uh, prose, sentence variety, characterization, yeah all that stuff is perfect. Way to go. You know your craft very well. I look forward to reading the rest.
Jack Hawthorne chapter 5 . 8/24/2011
*sigh*

No more awesome.

I'm so going to suffer from awesomeness-withdrawal after this. And I blame you. xD

When you introduced Scorpan and so on, I first though something like "WHat the fuck? Demons (and later, humans) in my pony?" but you proved quite capable of making it awesome nontheless. D

Also... Poniheim. xD
