Ah, I love it! Such a great oneshot here. It's almost like two separate fics the way you've got it set up, but the bit in the rain is great.

Ed WOULD make Al take his coat to protect the seal. And I love how he is able to turn such a deep and momentous promise into something that sounds like a joke. I love the guy and his over-protectiveness. XD

Very good! I really liked the memory of the rainy day and Edward's coat :) The only thing I noticed was that it was just a bit sudden when it went into the memory. But like I seem to always tell you, KEEP BEING AWESOME.

There feels like a sort of disconnect between the opening on the train and the flashback to the rainy day. But, it doesn't really matter because you conveyed the brothers perfectly throughout. The way Ed takes comfort from Al's voice even when he's only half-listening, Ed's cocky declaration in the rain, and how Al knows exactly what he means beneath all the bravado. Wonderfully done.
