Wonderful. Surprisingly nostalgic, with your little bite of humor out of the butt of one of the characters at the end. :-) I loved the thought of Lester pitching the HRDerby to Carlos Jr. That was a great picture in my mind. :-) Not to mention these hardcore lethal men cringing at a diaper.

I can see this happening. You really nailed the emotions of each of them. Joe's refusal to give up on what he wanted, something (or rather someONE) who kept telling him they didn't want the same things, yet his arrogance and selfish pride wouldn't allow the truth to sink in, until he had no other choice. Then he was trapped into what he rubbed into Stephanie's face, thinking he was "showing her", when she couldn't have cared less about who he chose or what he did anymore.

I can see Terry's hurt and anger and resentment festering, especially after their son was injured and his dreams were crushed, letting all her resentment out on Joe for picking up their lives and moving them because of his continuing feelings for Stephanie. Yeah, that's a bitter pill to swallow, knowing your husband is still in love with another woman.

I loved the pride in young Carlos, though. Somehow, I can see Stephanie and Carlos making sure that their children grew up with a healthy balance of unconditional love, discipline, support, and courage to try for anything they truly wanted to do, even if it ended in failure, it was a success because you tried, you worked toward your dream and attempted it. I almost feel sorry for Joe here.
