anonymouse chapter 1 . 4/5
...YEEEEEEEEEEES! YES! YES! YES! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!

Evidently,I love it! Seamlessly tying Silmarillion and DW together, and the whole fanfiction thing of "an elf inspired J.R.R. Tolkien to write everything" being brought up beautifully. Words cannot describe how happy I am to find a fic that the Tolkien family would be proud of. (maybe...idk.)
Reichbane chapter 1 . 1/30/2019
OOOooooo I like this a lot, andI'm very glad you didn't run with Maglor being a companion. This is such an interesting ending!
Imraphel chapter 1 . 9/23/2015
Oh, very clever. I like that ending.
Cupcake155 chapter 1 . 12/28/2014
Well done, doctor.
Cynical Classicist chapter 1 . 12/12/2014
Not sure how this works but lovely all the same.
CorsairCaruso chapter 1 . 11/22/2013
Oh goodness... two of my favorite fandoms, thrown together. I'm not normally super into crossovers, but for some reason, Doctor Who seems to be an exception. In any case, I want to complement your ability to capture the individual voices and personalities of each of these characters (the Doctor and Maglor) so well. And using Maglor's disappearance as a sort of "loophole" to allow him to wander until our Age, very nice. This story made me happy and sad, all rolled up into one big ball; it was a lot of fun. From the way you've written this, it seems like this little one shot is very appropriate, but I can almost envision a Doctor Who episode written this way. In any case, you've definitely captured the spirit and tone of Doctor Who, and you seem to know Tolkien's writings well enough to convey the sweet melancholy of the Silmarillion and the characters therein, very well. Congratulations for combining these two. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Killingmemory chapter 1 . 1/16/2013
This was pure, unadulterated mad genius at work. You crossed these two canons over so well, despite the fact that each has an inherently different feel to it. You took the expected tragedy and sadness of a Maglor-by-the-shore fic and blended it seamlessly with the lighthearted wonder of Doctor Who. You managed to remain true to both of your source materials, while blending and bouncing them off of each other to make something new. Just...pure genius. Also, your writing itself is wonderful and engaging. You did a great job capturing the characters' voices, and relating the events of the past to the events of the future. I'm adding this to my favorites. Hope to read more from you!
Wes chapter 1 . 10/25/2012
Scary brilliant. I always thought maybe Maglor was supposed to of taught Tolkien a lot about ME.
Yyunesprith chapter 1 . 7/2/2012
Mm. Lovely. . You've got the madcap attitude of 11 and the solemnity of the Elves down at the same time... you make it feel natural. I've been wanting to do something with Doctor/Silm myself, but the idea was still processing. Although it's planning to be quite a bit different from this. Anywho! Thanks for sharing. )
Vilinye chapter 1 . 5/22/2012
Brilliant! I can't believe that we haven't seen more Silmarillion/Doctor Who crossover before, because there's so many people who live so long and see so much in both of them..
Fortune Zyne chapter 1 . 4/20/2012
Very cool, except that Tolkien writesat he had found the Red Book that Bilbo, Frodo and eventually Sam wrote in and he translated it and published it. But this is still a very awesome story!
Glowing Fish chapter 1 . 3/25/2012
I am surprised this is the only Doctor Who/Silmarillion story on here. I liked it quite well. I can't think specifically that I would add or take away...other than making it longer! :)
Lin-ZB chapter 1 . 3/25/2012
This - this is wonderful! A little Tolkien and a little Doctor Who are most excellent together. You did a wonderful job of portraying the Doctor's speech, and I loved Tolkien's excitement at the prospect of learning Quenya!
WhyIsEverySingleNameEverTaken chapter 1 . 12/29/2011
I LIKE IT.

You used /quite/ a bit of italics but I feel like they were used well in conveying the tone. I quite enjoyed how you almost skimmed the whole "HOMG ELF. TARDIS. TECHNOLOGY. WHAT." thing while still acknowledging it because I feel the Doctor kinda does that too, "Yes it's bigger on the inside, get over it!"

Also, I was thrilled with how you worked in the whole Tolkien being taught the language by an actual Elf thing as well as bringing the story around to a full circle with the ending Doctor and River scene. It was funny seeing the whole LotR style being juxtaposed with the Doctor babbling on. All in all a harmonious and believable mesh of LotR, Doctor Who and reality :]
The Random Hummingbird chapter 1 . 12/29/2011
When you cross one of my favorite TV series with my favorite book, you get one of my favorite stories. This is the first Doctor Who/ Silmarillion crossover I've seen, but you managed to keep true to both, or actually, three universes, counting our own. The Doctor and Maglor are in character, and the descriptions are wonderful. Thank you for this amazing story.
