Your Fic was so bloody good! Absolutely brilliant! I definitely can see how 'The Ghost and Mrs. Muir' and even 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' played a roll in the inspiration for this Fic! This was brilliant! I loved the ending, particularly when Alex transformed back into DI Drake! Fighting scum with Gene Hunt on the streets of London is definitely her heaven!

What an absolutely charming story, I'm just sorry that it's taken me so long to read it. Such an unusual angle on the Gene/Alex saga, I never thought of her coming back to 2008 to live at Farringfield Green, but it feels so right, and I love the idea of the older Gene haunting the place where his younger self died. I should have guessed earlier that this was your take on The Ghost and Mrs Muir! Beautifully written, as all your work is, so full of exquisite detail, light, shade, humour, poignancy, and the ending is utterly perfect. I do hope this won't be your last Ashes story - plese write more if the Muse grabs you any time!

At first I thought this was going to be a "Truly Madly Deeply" type story that would leave me sobbing for ages! So pleased they both found peace with each other at the end :) so sad at the beginning - leaked a few tears...

Awww, I loved this! Both the whole story and it's ending. :) I think it'll probably be very sad for Molly that Alex died at fifty - it's not very old after all, but I think it was probably time for her to join Gene again. There were only so many years they could be kept apart. :) This was gorgeous; thank you so much for writing it!

Oh goodness what a incredible ending. I loved everything about this story from start to finish, it had so much heart and captured the real essence of what Ashes was all about, which ultimately was the power of enduring love and Gene and Alex being together what ever- forever.

I have to confess I didn't really want this to end...but I did want the moment when Gene and Alex would be reunited, and I fully expected it would be TG&MM, updated. What I didn't see coming was Monty's participation, but that's fine.

Also totally unexpected: that Gene would just go on being a copper, and Alex's heaven would be joining him at that. Nice to see that Luigi is back too.

But it's with a tear I read all this...

Never seen The Ghost and Mrs Muir, but I shall definitely seek it out now. And Truly Madly Deeply is one of my favs, time for a rewatch soon. :)

Oh my gosh! I had tears in my eyes towards the end of this chapter! I'm so sad Alex died but glad she is back with Gene (and Monty) where she belongs :)
