I wished she'd defended herself more against Gale, although that was more realistic. Glad she got in a jab at him the next day. Great last line.

The dialogue between the prep team was perfect. Loved Cinna's contrasting grown-up calm. Her bit about tearing Gale's clothes off was funny.

Such fun watching them team up against Haymitch. I like Madge's manners too. That fits her, even though it obviously bugs Gale.

So happy to find a Gadge that I haven't read. Heartbreaking chapter. My favorite part ws her meeting with Katniss, esp. because Katniss jumped in to tell her how to survive. That was perfect.

Great work! I really hope the sequel is up! I normally only read completed fics because I don't left to be hanging - but you tricked me! lol. Otherwise, very well written.

Let me start by say that it's stories like THIS that have made me into a Gadge fan! Truth be told, I didn't have a huge opinion about Madge from the books b/c she was used so sparingly (though I was sad she didn't make it), and I actually didn't care for Gale. But stories like yours have given these characters a place in my heart that the actual author could not do for me. So bravo!
Given how little substance Madge was given in the books (and how disappointing they didn't even put her in the movies, opting to just have Katniss see the pin for sale at the Hob. I thought that was a terrible idea since it made the pin lose so much of it's meaning imo), it was very impressive the way you fleshed her character out more based on just the little bit of characterization we were given in canon and managed to write the whole thing from her POV (though I wouldn't have minded seeing some of Gale's POV as it's so rare). And even though you had to develop Madge a lot on your own since she was such a small character in canon, the personality traits and back stories you provided her were always consistent, meaning you never let her get out of character (which is actually quite easy when dealing with original characters or in this case, a character that you had to do a lot of the development for).
And I can't express enough how glad I was that you didn't simply write a rehash of the original Hunger Games with just having swamped out Katniss and Peeta for Madge and Gale (b/c seriously, what is the point in that?). Your take had a lot of similarities, but it was different enough that it was certainly worth reading your version of events :) Plus I really liked how you got both Madge and Gale out of the arena by having the citizens of the Capitol ready to revolt over it since they were so caught up in the star-crossed lovers. To be honest, I originally thought that was what was going to save Peeta and Katniss in canon, so I enjoyed seeing it utilized here.
And that ending! Poor Madge :( I'm so psyched that you've already begun a sequel (although disappointed from the slow update pace). I've got to admit that if Gale and Madge walked away from this story together and in full admittance of their love for one and other, I wouldn't be as interested in the sequel (I enjoy the drama of getting together more so than the drama of being together if that makes sense lol). So I was glad to see the twist you dropped on us at the end, even if it sucks for Madge.
Finally the writing itself was pretty good, although there were times I saw easy typos that, given the quality of your writing as a whole, should have been caught and taken care of (meaning they weren't errors b/c you didn't have an understanding of the grammar usage, etc. they were just errors that could have been caught with more proofing). But overall it was good. You did fine with the violence and ferocity that goes hand in hand with writing about something as awful as the Hunger Games, and I liked the way you switched things up with the character deaths (although you weren't always clear as to when someone was dead or just down, nor was it explained sometimes how Gale and Madge knew who was left since they'd both miss the announcement at night etc. Little inconsistencies like that need to be watched out for just to make the story flow that much better).
Overall the whole thing was just a splendid read and I thank you for taking the time and effort to get it down on paper in order to share with the rest of us :) Keep up the hard work on the sequel and I'll see you over there!
