I keep denying this, Merlin somehow used his magic at the last minute, or maybe he was immortal all along already and hadn't realized, he was just preparing, waiting to be fully healed, until he burst forth through the dirt and was greeted by a shocked crowd of grievers, 'Merlin!?' 'Yeah...? Wait how am I-' 'How are you alive?!' 'I... don't know.'

yup... that rubbed salt in the wound. mind using lemon juice next time? or maybe a chainsaw? might be less painful then. still an amazing piece, though... in spite of how much that hurt to read.

Such loss, but Arthur would have to move on eventually. Tragic but nothing is forever (except Merlin waiting for Arthur to come back apparently). Thank you for posting.

This is one of the best things I've ever had the pleasure to read. Your description was flawless and even with no one actually speaking, you made my heart ache and I could actually feel Arthur's sorrow and emptiness in my own chest. It was beautifully painful and so much realistic and I thank you for this amazing piece.

What a sad and lovely written fic. I'd love a fic that showed the actual scene where Merlin dies... I bet it'd bring me to tears.
