This is such an interesting dynamic... Qui Gon the Rebel, has no tolerance for anyone else defying his authority. He'll do anything for Obi... except cede authority over him to anyone else, including Obi himself. It's an oddly disturbing dynamic, because he absolutely means the best, but this has potential to achieve a lot of harm.

...:P omg he saw mustafar...i...i can't. Just. Aaaaah. Mustafar is simply heartbreaking and young Obi Wan's confused reaction to the vision, confused and outraged at the idea that the burning person is left to die is just... i could probably go on for awhile about how sad but nah.
A day and a half wow. No wonder he was hungry. And Qui gon, telling Obi Wan about yoda accusing him of forming an attachment, eeh and Obi Wan's oh, ooh realizing Qui Gons affection for him. And yoda... lol

Beautiful, absolutely sublime imagery skillfully written. Bravo. I enjoyed it immensely.

Oh sweet Force, how I enjoyed it... The image that you painted of this refuge is absolutely gorgeous - Qui-Gon seriously seems to know all the best places in the galaxy. But I hope this time it wasn't illegal like Hession? ;) Anyway, I loved his determination to correct his mistake himself and Obi-Wan's heroic trust in him that made it possible. Adorable scene of him falling asleep on Qui-Gon's shoulder like an innocent youngling :) I loved also the moment when Obi-Wan got this tiny glimpse of the Living Force in all its glory and it was more than enough to heal his soul. I don't know if you do it intentionally or not but there's this beautiful religious subtext in your writing which is one of the reasons I adore it so much. One can draw so much insight from it after translating it from Jedi to Christian. Thank you, I loved my stay in the Sanctuary :)

I'm really glad you didn't string this out into a multi chapter recovery story, because I'm sure you could have. Like you said, they're jedi. When they do have problems like these, they are supposed to get on with it. Which sounds cruel when stated so bluntly, but there you go.

However, on the other hand, I'm glad you wrote this. It would be horrible to be witnessing something so terrible, and even jedi, especially young, impudent ones, can get in over their heads. Literally. So what I'm saying is, I'm glad you gave a little insight to Obi-Wan's healing. Something like that shouldn't be forgotten, or ignored.

And now I'm done rambling. Good Job!

That was just perfect. Loved how you write Qui-Gon in a way that shows his "attachment", his love for Obi-Wan without it being coddling and overly sentimental.

The force filled valley was just what Obi-Wan needed, and I loved how Qui-Gon gently but firmly made Obi-Wan stay and learn from it. He always does things his own way, doesn't he? You know write them both so well...

Loved this perfect response to Field of Dreams...

Very light and touching story. I love the scared of the Force side of Obi Wan, it's so unusual and unlike his normal dignified Jedi calm. Qui Gon's efforts for Obi Wan are admirable, he even braves Yoda for his Padawan, an attachment most rewarding for both, no matter what the council believes.

It's sad that Obi Wan would compare himself even remotely to Xanatos and his reaction to rather die that become like him most endearing if not alarming. The most unsettling bit where Obi Wan's visions, we all know whom will be leaving who cut down in to pieces to die and live to regret not having killed the fallen one. *shudders* Will he be appalled by his own action then, as he is now when he thought it was Qui Gon who 'mercilessly' walked away?

That unwelcome part aside, it's wonderful Qui Gon was able to help Obi Wan, i love it when they meditate together and more so the subtle physical touches of comfort offered by the Master, the cupping of a cheek, the hand on the belly so small and insignificant yet so needed and effective, most beautiful.

Yoda should've known better than to involve the healer, but I agree with Obi Wan they will survive the experience. lol, another job well done.

Beautiful and awe-inspiring. You really captured Qui Gon's strength and love with this piece. I loved the whole "attachment" bit.

This is deeply satisfying. Well-written as usual, and with a very peaceful ending.

Some initial impressions:

"How could you do that?' he demanded hoarsely, sweat beading on his face, his rumpled tunic soaked through.

Qui Gon rose, faced him squarely. "What are you talking about?' he said, voice deliberately calm..

"I saw it! You left him to die! How could you do that? How could you lie to me?"

He crossed the space in two strides, reached out a steadying hand, only to have it knocked away with a snarl.

"He was your Padawan! How could you leave him to burn? He was screaming, master! Screaming and burning! I saw it! I saw you cut him down and leave him to die!"

For a soft-spoken young man, Obi Wan could achieve a startling volume when pushed to a rare extremity of emotion. Qui Gon seized him by the shoulders, gripped hard. "Wake up," he commanded, sharply. "That's enough. You need to wake up."

"I can't watch anybody else burn," the Padawan murmured. The heartfelt plea was clear in his voice.

Heart-freaking-breaking. The future. .gosh. This kills me. Well done on incorporating the future into what Obi-Wan experiences concerning Mandirly. I wasn't expecting that.

One gnarled hand came up to point at him. "Your fault that is."

My first thought: "damn, Yoda. Be meaner."

Second thought: "QG does deserve it to a degree."

He had taken Xanatos back to Telos, to test him. This might be the same. It must be. He saw himself burning, burning with fear, and with the anger that fear inspired, And anger leads to hatred, and thence to suffering. If he fell, would Qui Gon kill him? He hoped so; he dearly hoped so. Would Qui Gon love him enough to kill him before he could be utterly consumed in those flames? He would rather die than burn alive in hatred, burn alive chained to a stake of fear, screaming in the hollow flaming dark, a charred mockery of a Jedi, of a man…

The dream that had so tortured him earlier. It flashed before his mind again. It wasn't Qui Gon and Xanatos he had seen….it was not a scene from the past but from the future. The one left mangled and burning, writhing on the shore of a hellish river, was not Xanatos at all. "It was me," he groaned, "Master! Master – don't leave me there, don't leave me. Kill me, please. Please."

Again. Heartbreaking. This is beautiful.

I love how you show Ob-Wan's vulnerability here. So often we only see the stoic Jedi Padawan or Master. You do well in showing a Jedi's humanity, as well as their tension with being something beyond mere humanity.

FINALLY. FINALLY QG SHOWS THAT HE LIKES OBI-WAN. FOR THE FORCE'S SAKE I WAS STARTING TO DOUBT IT. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT-

sorry. I just recently watched TPM and it's made me a bit frustrated with my favorite Jedi Master. It's good to be reminded of the characteristics that I enjoy in him-the hidden ones that sometimes only those who look closely can see(or create).

I love it. You did well in displaying Qui-Gon's nature: reserved. He doesn't baby Obi-Wan, but he definitely does care.

Very good. This is a great resolution to the Antar fiasco that they faced. I loved every agonizing minute. Great character development.
