Ughhhh... SO. MUCH. PAIN! They're killing me so much here. Gahhh. I particularly liked the part about Charles having come to Elsie's room when drunk and taken off his clothes, but even that was tinged with angst (you should really write a separate story like that - but NO angst!). Despite breaking my heart to pieces here, you did an excellent job with this chapter. I'm looking forward to an update, and maybe it will be a bit happier next time!

It's a bit heartbreaking to see the two so far apart - unable to overcome their stubborness. But I liked this chapter very much - the pace of it, the flashback, Charles POV. And at least he managed to hold her in the end. Hope you find the time for chapter 04 soon :)

I'm understanding Elsie well - it's so easy to be hurt, in this cases, and it's so difficult to pass over our fears...

I imagine this could be a way they grow apart through work and sheer stubbornness both. It seems a good in-character angst plot, though my sentimental heart only truly vibrates when they set aside their differences and come to an understanding.

This left me with some hope, though I am heart broken for the two of them. I loved her response to him and his illness. How could she not respond this way? Beautiful!

I really like this story and I can't wait for the next chapter.

oh boy! this would be good to write this into next season( I wish)...would love to see another facet of love out of that house! can't wait to read the next chapter...

This is so sad :( how they managed to find love, became an "us" and then let everything fall apart - both too proud and too stubborn to change the situation. Although they both cannot live with it right now and still neither Elsie nor Charles do something to change it. They do not talk :(. Heartbreaking, really.
