This is the most in-depth Ryoma/Yukimura story that I have read so far, and your writing is beautiful. I'm definitely going to be following this story and eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

I really like this chapter

I don't know why but I'm starting to picture Ryoma being schooled at Rikkai, there would be much more chances of Yukimura/Ryoma interactions. Also, in every stories I've ever read of Ryoma going back to Japan after the final, he always end up at Seigaku and to me it feel like a repeat of the story, but maybe it's just me.

I think Ryoma not going to Seigaku would surprise everyone as they're used to him being one of it's member (and I really want to see how he can cope with it).

Anyway, if you ever go with it, there should be some reasons about why he can't live near Seigaku (the houses/flat to rent/buy not having the necessary requirements, mother needing to live near work if he live with his parents, typical Ryoma behaviour of "I don't care where I live as long as there's Ponta and Karupin" or something else). Still, I wonder if he'll be living with his parents or on his own...I can't wait for the next chapter so Keep up the good work )

PS: I'm just suggesting I'm not at all forcing your hand nor will I harass you or flame if you chose otherwise because if your muse already gave you well planned ideas for the plot then go with it and don't mind my review as it won't stop me from reading what you can come up with ;)
