I love Elsie and Charles!
Mrs.Dickens713 chapter 1 . 4/13/2012
I love this story! Her reaction is priceless and I love her saucy attitude towards Charles at the end. I actually have a little fantasy that Charlie Griggs will resurface in Series 3 and threaten Elsie, thereby forcing Mr. Carson to FINALLY act on his feelings for Mrs. Hughes. AU AU AU

This deserves more reviews. You ALWAYS deserve more reviews.

I love that the thing Charles worried about the most was what Elsie would think of him; that, of course, is exactly how I imagine it would be. I thought that the way you portrayed his building anxiety as he prepared to tell her what he had done was excellent. I also, of course, loved the way that when Elsie exploded, her anger wasn't at all toward Charles; again, just as I would imagine. His surprise over her not being mad at him was sweet and cute, too. hehe. Then the sweet kisses were PERFECTION. Gah, I just want to wrap them together in my arms. LOL. They, and your awesomely amazing and lovely stories, make me have such sappy feelings. haha

Sheesh. I think I've written shorter stories than that. lol

What a sweet story! I loved Elsie's reaction to Charlie Griggs' blackmail and his lordship's paying him off with £20. A very nice opportunity for them to become closer, too! ;)

You've really developed a great ability to write their voices well, especially Mrs Hughes'.

Well done!

I had never thought about the how did he get the key part until the tumblr discussion. But this was wonderful. I could see Charles working himself in a right state, completely convinced that Elsie would never look at him again. I really wanted to give the poor man a hug, but Im even more glad Elsie comforted him the way she did.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. And perfect.
18tilIdie chapter 1 . 4/10/2012
Yes of course! He would go through such excruciatingly meanderous circumvoluted thoughts and speech form before coming to the point and she would be seated there, patiently hearing him out, before blowing off her temper in anger, then taking the initiative of sealing it all with a kiss. Exactly right!

Lovely. Absolutely lovely. I'm really glad he "borrowed" that key.

!

I just started watching Downton Abby two weeks ago - finished through series 2, and my absolute favorite characters are Carson, Bates, Hughes and Anna Smith - and I always thought Carson and Hughes made a perfect match and this was SOOOOOOOoooo perfect!

I think you pegged Hughes SPOT-ON - I could easily hear her voice (the actress who plays her) in your words - and Carson was so adorable!

I'm favoriting this!

Going to read again for a warm, bedtime story tonight!

I thought that was very sweet. Loved to see Elsie mad at Charlie Griggs.

Thanks so much for sharing.
onmyside chapter 1 . 4/10/2012
"It was a world in which the Charlie Griggs of the world did not win, love always triumphed, and a borrowed storeroom key proved to be the most important object in the entire world."

I love the new meaning to this saying. And how Charles was so afraid to tell her what he had done. Like a little boy that has caught a spider and then torn out its legs.

A very sweet story and a wonderful solution to the mysterious question.
