I loved this story and loved imagining Kate being fully joyous and back to the person she was before her Mother was killed. It rings so true to both of their characters that Rick is the one, through his steadfast love and optimism and joy in life and goofiness, to bring out the same in her finally. Thank you for sharing your talent with us mere mortals who read and don't write!

That's the kind of fluff that makes me grin rather than gag :)

I liked this:

The Kate who – he was surprised to find – is quite timid. Confident, yes, but tentative all the same. She let him lead, which was a definite first. Her affection was reverent. Marveling at every touch, every sensation. And when she met his eyes, breathless, she left him breathless as well.

Before I forget, the lines in the paragraph after (I'm paraphrasing) "he's not only the cream of her coffee, he's the caffeine that keep her going" is FANTASTIC. The idea is superb and, stylistically how it's written rocks.

I also LOVED LOVED LOVED this: "The only thing better than waking up beside him, she decides as her eyes flutter open for the second time that morning, is waking up beside him holding a fresh cup of steaming coffee."
I chuckled. It's great.

But I have more to say than that. First, I just reviewed your Drabble fic (rambled about the word cute), although I didn't realize I wasn't logged in. It looked different, so I thought I was but alas, I wasn't. My bad. Second, this was great. The idea behind it, the execution, etc., was all wonderful.

This like exemplifies that: "He would have missed out on Kate."
Romantic, true... Everything.

You get the characters so well it seems.
