Reviews for Control That Which You Cannot Destroy
SuperHetero1 chapter 52 . 8/6
I’m sad that I did not discover this story sooner. It was wonderful. Perhaps you’ll come back to this someday. I’ll have to scour the Internet for more male Shep/jack stories!
mynonsensemail chapter 29 . 2/7
Fascinating benefit to Vrolik's syndrome - it makes sense that Joker's fragility would help him tune into the vibrations of the ship, get a deeper sense for making adjustments on the fly, and ultimately pilot it more smoothly. Don't remember learning that from the game, so kudos to you for the creative thought!

As always, beautiful character development.
mynonsensemail chapter 20 . 2/7
Such a great idea to let Thane freestyle rather than lock him into a squad in combat. Trust him to do what he's best at, whether sniping or stalking or flanking. Great example of decentralized command.

Beautiful quote from Ashley too: "Gravity... perhaps this is what God's magic feels like. It's not a thing that holds you down; it's a thing that brings you home." You do a fantastic job at balancing ridiculously funny banter with deep, heartfelt moments, and this chapter is no exception. I'm glad to see Jack and Miranda develop more compassion and understanding for one another - Jack especially is changing for the better under Shepard's influence. I hope I can someday approach the kind of inspiring, noble, competent leader that Shepard is.
mynonsensemail chapter 18 . 2/7
Your characters are SO FUNNY! This is so Kasumi, to pull a prank like that - your dialogue is spot-on and hilarious. Thank you for the continued laughs!
mynonsensemail chapter 14 . 2/7
This dialogue is hilarious!
mynonsensemail chapter 11 . 2/6
Thank you for re-writing this reunion scene to be a more natural conversation than the one in the game. This makes so much more sense - their hug could have been the outcome of a high Paragon reputation.

I am greatly enjoying the character interactions you've crafted throughout this story - you have truly captured the spirit of these magnificent people: the crew of the Normandy, and I love spending time with them in your writing. Thanks for all your work on this.
LizzAF chapter 53 . 11/17/2019
i hope you're doing okay. just finished this story now. i absolutely loved it. even if you never write again, just know that there's at least someone who wants you back, and will wait for a chapter that may never come. either way, thankyou for the amazing story
finstermunker chapter 53 . 3/7/2019
This is still one of the best jack takes on the website. And Shepard post revival is on point. Wish it had finished it. Would have made a fantastic story when finished.
l7986 chapter 27 . 9/17/2018
Haven't read this story in a long ass time and tbh for the most part I've grown out of Mass Effect. But last night I figured why not and decided to reread the best Jack story around and man I've been away from it so long its like reading for the first time all over again, and its freaking awesome getting to read this all over again and while having a faint idea of what's coming for the most part I'm oblivious.

If Bioware ever makes another ME game, you seriously need to be on the staff that does the story.
V-rcingetorix chapter 22 . 6/2/2018
The nanotech approach here is very well thought-out. What happens if the healing machines don't switch off?

On the other hand, why not set the nanotech for bones to a slower rate, or a delay? Artificial material is out of the normal range for organic repair (carbon base substances especially), but could there be reservoirs of repair materials available for application?

As an example, let's say for the sake of argument that each bone break requires 2 grams of artificial materials. Muscles are very sensitive to extra weight, so the excess material would need to be spread out across a surface, like the internal mesenteries. The appendix is important for immunity, but since the nanotech is already boosting the immune defenses, it could serve as such a reservoir?
NoobdockSaint chapter 7 . 2/15/2018
Well... shit. Guess I'm gonna go break out the PS3 and romance Jack now. Damn
BeastsOfSet chapter 53 . 1/16/2018
ah, so long since an update to this, such a shame, easily my favourite story on the site. I come back and reread it every few months, it's that good! anyway, I hope you're still around and will maybe one day come back to us, I'll keep my fingers crossed!
jordanzachary4 chapter 1 . 10/21/2017
absolutely amazing story. Hopefully in the future more will come.
HelveticaStandard chapter 1 . 7/27/2017
It is always a shame to see great stories left unfinished. Still, I perfectly understand, and can only hope that one day, you found your muse again; so I am putting this story on my alert. Thank you so very much for writing such an excelled piece. I hope you are well and are living a good life
griezz chapter 53 . 7/25/2016
Over two years since a chapter was posted. I'll be honest: that sucks. However, I know how health matters can appear out of nearly nowhere, and I understand perfectly how hard it can be to get yourself back to anything approaching normal afterwards. Spent the entire summer of 2015 in the hospital, which included serious surgery. Even after getting back home, it's... hard to get going again.
I say all this because I want you to know I do have a good grasp of your reasons; nevertheless, I hope that you can find it within yourself to continue with this story. Your take on Shep, his crew and ME2 is fresh, in that you do a better job than most at showing a realistic reaction Shepard would have to how was resurrected. At the same time, you develop things that don't appear in canon, yet should have been (post-season Ash, the birth of the Cerberus Phantom program, etc.) You even have outright fun with the devilish duo of KasumiKelly, two characters that interacted very little, yet with your writing, you can see how they are perfect for each other.
I hope that you are well, and that you find your muse again. Thank you for what you have shared. Peace!
