I have to say something. I read this story years ago when it came out fresh. I still love it. But, my feelings toward Bella haven#t changed a bit. She's the most self centered bitch I've ever encountered in fiction. Glad she seems to come around in this chapter but her mind is still nattering "me me me me me". I didn't buy it back then and I don't buy it now. She definitely needs a shrink. Sorry for the rant but my resentment came back with the same force, maybe even more. We all experience shit in life, but to take out your own shit on someone else is simply not acceptable. And btw Edward has the same tendencies. The whole relationship sounds a lot like interdependence.
Apart from that - it's still great ;-)

Interesting turn of events, but who was it that offered him a job in the vineyards? I was confused by that.

That's really idiotic and irresponsible of her. She should have called the cops on him ASAP. She's a paralegal after all. Besides, up to now, throughout the whole story I only saw a weak Bella who let her cheating boyfriend rule her life even after he left her. To be honest, who quits school just because their boyfriend cheated on them? She put her whole life on hold, not moving forward, thus giving him victory. Not sure I like her very much at the moment.
