Oh my gosh, this was so heartbreaking for me to take in. I just had to cry like how Mana was doing. But I liked how everyone as making preparations for the future; for when the pharaoh would come back.

That was heartbreaking! And I love the little reference at the end to his kind-of sort-of reincarnation.

I love the sense of loyalty and love between Pharaoh and his High Priests, particularly Seth. I'm glad that Seth was able to be reincarnated; I would love to read a story where Seth could be aware of his king's return.

I am left speechless by the magnificence of this story. Your words cut through my heart like a dagger and made tears stream down my face. Hardly anyone can do that, you truly are amazing.

Beautiful story

Their terror and horror at not remembering his name - perfect. This is a great interpretation, and I love Mana's expanded role and Seto's characterization.

This is a very heart breaking, emotional and powerful one shot to say the least. This is honestly very close to what I think happened in the actual anime for how Atem got sealed into the puzzle. I like how you wrote everyone's reaction to Atem's death, especially Seto. Seto's last line was quite powerful to say the least.

The only aspect I kind of disagree with is that Atem willingly whipped his all of his memories away in the Japanese version of the anime and in the manga. Personally, I think he just whipped away his name and the rest of his memories disappeared from the madness of being locked inside of the tomb. (This does differ for the dub, in that version I do think he did whip away all of his memories like in this). This is due to the fact I believe Yami did suffer from solitary confiment on steroids during those days, and only erased his actual name with a spell back to defeat Zork in ancient times. Yami was trapped inside a golden object, separated into hundreds of pieces, locked inside a dark tomb without any sort of light, and no way for any communication or direct contact with the outside world which would cause some major side effects including: illusions/hallucinations/perceptual distortions, difficulty thinking/concentrating, memory loss, sensitivity to noise, panic attacks, fantasies of revenge/torture/mutilation, paranoia, and issues with impulse control. With nobody to talk to or keep him in reality, he would eventually lose sight of everything important to him, including his humanity and give into his own madness. So yeah, I think he suffered from cabin fear on steroids in some ways. But to each is her own.
