I... I am just... I am just so speechless! How...? How can you write something so amazing like this. There were some lines/scenes from CM that I felt were just... idk author's flex(?) or throw away lines/scenes that paid off so well in this work. Thank you so much for your dedication to Danny and to Vlad! It's not often that you get to read a villain's redemption story that believable much less one done so well and with such care and attention to detail. I'm so glad Danny was able to "save" Vlad (and I'm glad that Vlad has Danny "at his side" as well). They really do need each other... If you are writing any original pieces, please let us know. I'd love to support you! (And I'm sure I'm not the only one)

Wow, no matter how much I thought I knew what would happen, this was different! This was so suprising, I’m happy things got to some semblence of alright for them. And that serenity and clockwork worked something out! Last chapter! Yay!

My goodness, I remember reading checkmate in like 2010 or 2012 or something, and I can't believe you just finished the sequel a month ago! Congratulations on finishing a marathon of stories! I loved this and it truly is way better than half the media we see today, either in books or shows/movies. Amazing! This truly has been amazing!

Wow... okay, so I am just kinda reeling from all that, talk about an ending. Didn't see that coming with Skulker at the end, darn you and your surprises! Awesome ending as usual, I'm really happy how things turned out for Vlad and Danny, even if it was a little sad that they had to be apart for things to be set right. I'm also pleased with what you decided to do with Danielle even if in canon she was quite bland as a character, because she kind of lacked one. It was good to see you have a good outcome for Vlad, because ooph, the start of this story with him being a fugitive, yeah, wasn't boding well for him! I like how even tho this started as a PP happened story, you still managed to eradicate it by the end, bravo lol. I also thought it was super interesting what you decided to do with Skulker in the end! Wouldn't have guessed he would become the new spirit of Halloween? Strange, but hey, keeping me on my toes.

You certainly know how to end a story, that's for sure, I was fighting off the vapors just from the concept of it coming to an end. I feel like I've come to the end of an era of fanfiction.

When I think of good fanfiction you're one of the top authors I think of, if not THE top. I'm also really hyped to see how you'll continue DoaS (which is probably my most favorite fanfiction period, btw). And I really hope that even once you've finished both DoaS (which I'm aware will probably take forever lol), that you'll still continue to write in one capacity or another, whether that means you'll spoil us with more glorious fanfiction or perhaps give us another form of more personal written work. Because I believe you're simply too talented to let that ability to go unused. You're a wonderful storyteller.

I actually found your writings rather late, 2019, but I have throughly enjoyed every minute of it. it was so exciting to see a notification that Endgame was updated. congratulations on finishing this story. I think the ending was perfect. it is truly amazing that you have been able to craft such an epic tale that took 14 yeard. thank you for all the hard work and dedication. I cant wait to start DoaS.

Congrats on finishing this. It is definitely an impressive feat and that you started Checkmate over 14 years ago and have stuck with this story really blows me away.
And this ending was amazing. I teared up multiple times reading it. I loved the conversion with Vlad and Danielle. It really broke my heart but I'm so happy she went with Vlad to Wisconsin and the two will try at being a family.

I have no idea how to start this review. The fact that you've been working on this story for years and continued to work on it is so inspiring. I remember reading Checkmate in high school and now I'm two years past graduating with my Master's Degree. The ending was wonderful and you tied everything into a nice little bow. It was amazing and I'm so glad I started following the story all those years ago and finally came back to finish reading it. Thank you so much for this story! 16 year me is definitely jealous I got to read the ending of this epic saga of 600k words. Amazing! Keep up the amazing work.

I am not able to say how much I liked the fic or provide a original comment, but you spent so much time with it and probably had sleepless nights because of it, I see the passion in it, and I must say - this story is great! and I am so sad that is the end (where I will find next so cool long novel with vlad and danny? yes, this is a a real novel, not just a fic.).

What an amazing ride this was, I totally need to read the whole thing again someday! It’s been a while since I story gripped me as much as this one did like a fully published novel. This story had me laughing, crying, super mad, like every emotion you could feel from just words on a page, I felt them. There were so many times I just wanted to hug these characters (and you as the author) because my heart was just so full of raw emotion that I wished them every happiness in the world and to overcome their struggles! And as far as the story is concerned these aren’t even real people but I FELT for them so much! P.S. As for this final chapter itself, I loved how beautifully it all tied together and I can't wait for the oneshots! I'll admit I wasn't sure what to think about Skulker and the Fright Knight's ending and it had me reeling, but that's just me. I was absolutely blown away by the rest! You've outdone yourself and it was worth waiting to see how this all ended. Some fanfics never get that chance which sucks but anyway, thanks again for seeing this through to the very end! That was a beautiful ending. Just as with the previous chapter I was in tears again. So many powerful and heartwarming moments. Just thinking about having reached the end of this epic journey, one that started 14 years ago, makes the tears well up again. I still remember vividly the first chapters, our conversations on the Danny Phantom forum (I think the administrator was Zcat6) and having had the honor to beta-read the earlier chapters of your amazing story.

Your work, and our conversations over the years, are moments I fondly and often think back to. Your work, your kindness, your positivity and determination, inspired me to keep writing over the years in other fandoms. Without you I would never had the courage to keep on writing.

As for this wonderful ending, it's hard to put what I'm feeling right now into words. I want to say so much, and when I was reading this epilogue I could totally see in my mind what I wanted to say, yet now I'm writing the review I don't know what to say. But I'm going to try it'it's the very least I can do after all you've done for us.

I'm grateful, I'm so grateful to you, not only for being a wonderful friend, but also for all your hard work and for sharing this story with us. A story and a wonderful author who has really impacted my life over the years. Thank you so much. It was an honor for me to have had the chance to walk with you all those years. As for this epilogue, I loved the Danny and Vlad scenes. I was at first worried about Vlad wanting to leave; worried that he was going close himself off again. But now I understand why he needs to do this. His past is something that's like a heavy emotional weight on his shoulders. Having received a second chance can truly feel overwhelming, especially for someone like Vlad, and he wants to make sure he's not only deserving of it, but that only then he can also be a true guardian to Danny; someone who deserves to be Danny's guardian in Vlad's mind. And for that he has to set right the wrongs of his past. Their entire scene together was so powerful and I was already in tears by then.

They said goodbye, but this time we all know there will be a next time; they'll never be apart again. I loved the dynamic between them. There was a sense of peace, of light and hope between them. A sense of true fondness for each other and a sense of true friendship; a sense of acceptance of their bond. Not only acceptance, but a bond they have both embraced.

The scene between Vlad and Danielle made me cry the hardest. I know you once said you didn't like Danielle's character as much (But maybe that has changed over the years) but you've written her so beautifully and realistically in this scene. Her emotions were so powerful and heartfelt.

"You still don't want me!" and "No, it's just what's easier for you," I was speechless. You really caught the raw emotion so incredibly well in their scene. And then Vlad's struggle... his disbelief why Danielle still would want to be with him after all he did...was incredibly powerful too.

Vlad saying he didn't know how to be a father, but was willing to learn. That line was for me one of the most impacting in this entire chapter, and it was everything I hoped for. Beautiful.

I cheered. I cheered out loud when I reached the part where Danielle stepped out of the car. I smiled at the heartwarming reunion with the ghosts in Vlad's castle. I couldn't help but smile to see already a bit of banter between Vlad and Danielle. And I get the feeling Danielle and Annabelle will be quite a handful together. Already loving the dynamic between the two.

"How about you two take all that giggling upstairs while I wait for your mother—I mean, Annabelle's mother! Oh, sugar cubes! Stop laughing!" I love this!

But as the two headed up the stairs, they called out together, "Have fun, Mom!"
Vlad turned bright red as he continued to watch the two giggling girls go up the stairs. Embarrassed Vlad is the best kind of Vlad. Both these scenes made me laugh.

"All in due time," he whispered with a soft smile before he put the ring back in his pocket, and finally got into the car. Beautiful, just beautiful.

I really enjoyed the scene between Danny and Jazz as well. Loved the brother-sister moment between them. It's such a relief that things are normal again (Or as normal as can be when you live in the Fenton family) and it really made me remember the early days of the series. The "Team Phantom" scene was fantastically written. I had a huge smile on my face all the way through. It was so satisfying and wholesome to see everyone together. The final toast was perfect.

The scene between Danny and Vlad in the early morning was another one of my favorite moments. Love the bit about Danny setting up three alarm clocks. Absolutely loved the banter and the race between them. Vlad teaching Danny how to make Amity Park his ghost territory was such a nice touch. I also like how Vlad can now more easily talk about his "fruit loop" days and even joke a bit about it.

The scene with Vlad and Danny hanging out at the lighthouse was such a beautiful way to end it. I was smiling and crying at the same time. You could truly feel the connection and bond between them. No more fears about being apart, no more fears about what the future would bring; they were together, and no matter where they are, they would never be apart again.

When Vlad is ready to come back, Danny will be waiting for him; always.

I wanted to end this comment with two quote from this chapter. One of the moments I will always remember your amazing story by.

Vlad smiled at the boy. "I want you to know I'm proud of you. Not just for being able to do this, but for not letting anything or anyone—including myself—stop you from being who you are. I never believed in heroics before; but you are my proof that heroes do exist. And I am proud of you for that. And I am thankful… I guess you saved the villain after all, hmm?"

"And I guess you got me to join you, after all. I call this a win-win," Danny answered with a smirk.

Vlad blinked before he suddenly burst out laughing. He pulled the boy into a side-hug. "I guess my persistence paid off, then."

Danny smiled at him; but then, he added, "I'm proud of you, too, cheese head. You think I'm strong, but I have never met anyone stronger than you. Hate to say it, Vlad; but you're one of the good guys now."

And this one:

"Tell me, what's that large star there?"

Danny smiled warmly before looking up at the sky himself. "That's not a star, it's actually another planet…"

And just like that, the two half-ghosts spent the next minutes enjoying each other's company. And while they knew they would have to part for some time, they both took some comfort in knowing that their unbreakable bond would always bring them back together...
