  flyingoctocat chapter 5 . 7/22 I find the Jehovah's Witness joke fine though as it is quite true that, in most people's perception as well as in popular media, they are portrayed as such. Also in my personal experience, they are such busy-bodies. It is not their religion that is being made fun of here but the known culture tied to that religion. There is a difference, subtle it may be. And humor is societally subjective: as a lot of people had encountered these people and thus know their behave in a bordeline faux pass when spreading their faith, it works. It's funny. It says something about the audience as well as the intended target of the comic. It says more about the butt-hurt reader who commented about it. Probably says the same about me being a tad ticked off by said commenter and my rush to defend a well written (for a fanfic) prose. To the author: I thank you for writing this and wish you the best in your endeavors. |
