I really like Korra's reluctance to refer to Asami as a friend, having grown up in a more isolated environment because of her Avatar status. I think this is a good source of angst later on when she becomes confused about what she SHOULD feel for a friend, even though it might be clichéd a bit. (Done well, it would still be awesome, cliché or not.)

I think it's also interesting that Asami is really concerned about being known as a Sato, but Korra isn't concerned about being known as the Avatar. It would be nice to see Korra putting her at ease for not treating her differently, since she doesn't think that status is an issue. (Coz I think Korra is very humble in that sense. And she's the type who respects people for what they can do, not who they are.) It would definitely be interesting to see this from Asami's perspective, especially since she is a Fire Ferret fan and probably sees the Avatar/Pro-Bender first, and Korra second. At least initially.

AFTER I WATCHED EPISODE 7 I THOUGHT, "I wonder how Midground would write this scene." xD I'm really excited to see where you take this! Are you going to diverge much from the plot? Will Korra's feelings for Asami mean different decisions? That would be interesting to see. :3

Also, you probably already have this fic beta-read (It is a bloody relief to see well-written work, so double high-five to you.) and the grammar itself isn't an issue, but if you ever want a second opinion for your fic I wouldn't mind helping out.

I say this because I found that the second paragraph of this chapter was frankly a bit awkward to read. As an exposition it works, I guess, but it's kind of disjointed. I would have probably suggested rewriting the first few paragraphs for more cohesion. A better focus on Asami's description would have been nice too, particularly making guesses on what the mystery is about, and how someone like her can afford Kuang's Cuisine, etc. This emphasizes the fascination that Korra has for Asami without it being a repetition of, "Oh yay, I finally have a female almost-friend I can bond with."

Anyway, I'm sorry if I sounded a little too harsh or sommat. Bluh. I really like your fic (I seriously am so lazy I don't make the effort to review at ALL most of the time) but I just want to help. ): (I would love to write my own fic for this fandom but I am slave to another. So I just get to fangirl extra hard for this fic: the only one interesting enough to follow at the moment. xD)

So glad to find a korra/asami story. This is good. I'm liking how they start off with a friendship and everything.

I am liking this a lot so far. The premise, the build up of friendship, and the different reactions Asami and Korra have with each other, like when Asami was pleasantly surprised Korra didn't jump to the conclusion that Asami was related to Hiroshi Sato. I really enjoyed Korra's thought process and being able to really get into her head.

My only grip is how similar Korra's lines are to Mako's actual lines in the show. They have different personalities, so their lines ought to be different even if they're essentially saying the same thing. I'm assuming though that it's a minor hiccup and will be gone since it's going to turn in a different direction than what happens in canon, so I am looking forward to that.

Omg I love this fic's idea! I agree! I really wish it was Korra who bumped into Asami instead. Gawd I live to believe this is canon :) and I like how you'll follow the canon story but with some korrasami twists instead. Can't wait for more!

I totally squea'd over this fic. I really enjoyed it. :] Heck, there was even arm-flailing involved! I thought, "Hey, wouldn't it be fun to see a fic where Korra is the one who gets run over?" And I read this and it did not disappoint. I really love the descriptions too! One of the things I love about Korra is the atmosphere of Republic City, and I think you captured that really well. I am also a fan of slow romances, so I will happily follow this fic and root them on as their friendship develops. :3

Also, I think Bolin as a shipper on deck would be damn adorable to see! Especially if he's the FIRST to realize what's going on. But that's just me pushing for a little more Bolin interaction. Bolin is totally Korra's bro and wingman. (It's head!canon for me. xD) /nudgenudge? :3

This chapter was good. There were some pretty detailed descriptions of the surroundings and I loved that, I just wish there had been a bit more to move the plot along to balance it out. It was still really good, I just wish there had been a bit more story than description. I did like how Korra didn't recognize Asami from her last name, that adds a nice spin to the relationship and I can't wait to see what you do with it! Keep up the superb work! :)

Good direction on this new chapter! Felt that Korra's reaction to hearing Asami's last name was appropriate, and Asami's reaction was probably what would've happened. Anyways, good luck with finals and hope to hear more from you soon!
