Nice fic. I enjoyed seeing all the steps of Loki's temporary incarceration that the movie left out. Very in character. Good job.

This is brilliant, and I'm assuming it's a prequel to your other story Wipstich? You're just an excellent, excellent writer, extremely smooth and with incredibly vivid imagery, etc...

What I really loved about this was, well first of all, all the different points of view you give, even though it mainly focuses on Loki's, you as a reader get a glimpse of what everyone else thinks and what they're perceiving. But the thing I really adored was how, despite his obvious sort of madness, and thirst for revenge, you really, really continue to just feel awful for Loki here.

I think it's a really intriguing series of events to follow, what happens directly after that moment when we see Loki after taking the thrashing from the Hulk. It was brilliant the way you take us through his several attempts at escape, and it's something I strangely never thought of, but it makes total sense that Loki wouldn't just "let" them imprison him after all of that. He would try to break free. And it was really cool the way you opened the story with explaining the three ways in which magic can be cast, and then demonstrated throughout the story Loki's attempts at all three, ending of course in his failure to account for the one thing which, ironically, he's supposed to represent. Chaos. And I thought also it was just a ingenious way of showing how Loki might have come to be bound by a gag, and that too makes perfect sense. Because of course even if his hands are bound, Loki can chant magical spells into existence, and that's what you'd really have to be guarded against.

He was actually really frightening during his escape attempt, and how vicious he was towards Maria Hill. That's what I find so striking about this story, again though, is how you can make Loki seem both unhinged and violent, and in the next instant, make him seem incredibly fragile and vulnerable and sad. When the Avengers come, and Loki realizes he's cornered, and he's searching desperately for a way out, I just sort of felt my heart break in two for him, because this situation is really the worst for him, to be made utterly helpless and without strength, it can't be doing any favors for his self-esteem. And it just really shattered my heart when they finally break through his shield and blast him back, and Thor forces the muzzle onto him. Your description of that scene just made it incredibly hard to read, because it's literally them taking away Loki's last defense, his last ability, and as a reader, you can really feel his desolation at that.

Your stories are really great character studies of Loki, I find. And I hope you'll consider writing more in the future, again. Thank you so much once more for sharing your awesome talent!

cy-grl chapter 1 . 7/21/2012
This has to be one of the most brilliant works of Avengers fiction I've read. It may not be extraordinary long, with multiple chapters and unknown plots; however, it felt much more powerful than that, and you really managed to capture a decade of Loki into this particular piece. Great, great work! :-)
Guest chapter 1 . 7/2/2012
WOW. that was awesome. You write Loki so well-with his anger and cunning, his fears, his emotions, and his magic. I was completely drawn in and captivated by the story. amazing job!
Evilnor chapter 1 . 7/1/2012
First off, dampening means "to make wet." "Damping" is the effect by which a vibration or signal is lessened. You mean "magic-damping" there in that last section. Sorry, I'm an engineer, and it's a pet peeve of mine that so many people get that wrong. I blame ignorant sci-fi writers.

Now that's out of the way, on to the praise. I like how you figured out events between those two scenes in the movie. It makes complete sense to me and everyone seems in character. Good job, good flow, and good writing overall!
Cassandra Cassidy chapter 1 . 6/17/2012
Phenomenal. I absolutely love this. Everyone's in character, and Loki doesn't just lay down and accept defeat here, as I've seen happen in so many other fics. I enjoyed the exploration of his magical ability. I also enjoyed the inclusion of Maria Hill and Nick Fury, both of whom have a tendency to be woefully underrepresented. And just like the film, you managed to sneak in bits of humor that I really loved and appreciated.

Very well done!
Nightsmoke chapter 1 . 5/16/2012
Great work! Your writing style is fantastic and really engaging. I like your use of structure and language. Keep it up, and long live Loki :)
