You know, this just came to me late at night, but I think the "Chief" James and Sirius work for is this world's version of Dumbledore. That thought had me trying to imagine DUMBLEDORE as a stereotypical straight laced by the book cigar chomping police chief you see in works from the 80s.

This was such a good story. I love it.

I think it is appallingly high handed for - lets face it - relative strangers to stalk their way into someones hotel room and pour all their whisky away! It's damned expensive! They don't know him well enough to act like that! A normal person (and alcoholic) would have been outraged and the 'friendship' would have come to an abrupt end.
