Wow, that was powerful!

This last chapter was painful to read. The emotions-the fear, Hohenheim's desperate hope, his heartbreak, everything-is so visceral. What makes it worse, is that I can so clearly see Ed in Hohenheim. (Reciting the elements to distract himself, ack.) They're so clearly father and son, even with all the years apart.

This story fills the missing scenes leading up to his return so well. You really captured all the thoughts that must have been running through his head. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this!

Poor Hohenheim. His mind is jumping to the worst, and he's so anxious for his family.

But I loved how Ed's antenna is such an important identifier. It's the second thing he looks at, to tell if this boy is his son. XD

Also, this passage kind of cracked me up: "The Flame Alchemist. Probably one of the only men on the planet who knew something about alchemy that Hohenheim didn't. He imagined that if he was given a few months he could figure out how the man did it, but he had honestly never felt the urge to be able to light an entire town on fire." And it's terrible of me to have laughed, but he's basically think, "Well, I COULD learn it, of course. If I wanted to. It'd be easy. But I don't want to learn, because I'M not a pyromaniac." And it's just so similar to simething Ed would think/say. XD

(I swear, I wasn't giggling childishly the whole time I was reading this very serious chapter. I wasn't.)

You almost had me going with that first scenario. I thought it had really happened and this was an AU, since Ed acted so much like his angry-but-actually-caring self and Hohenheim would imagine his son differently. And then when I realized it was only his happy daydream of returning home...my heart just sank for Hohenheim. I like how you sandwhiched the action of this chapter between those two polar opposite imagined scenarios.

I've never thought before about how Hohenheim would have heard about the Fullmetal Alchemist. But honestly, it would have been impossible for him to have NOT. I'm so glad you're writing about this! (And I'm also quite happy that there's two more chapters, and the story has been completed already, so I can read this all in one sitting!) :D

Reading this was like being punched in the soul (and that is meant in the best way possible). Despite being a huge Hohenheim fan I'd never thought about how his return to Resembool would've been the first he'd heard about Trisha's death. I love seeing the story from Hohenheim's perspective, and how you showed the similarities between him and Edward.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Hohenheim, but that IS your son.

Dang. This is awesome. I love how you expressed Hoenheim's pov. I think you did a really good job at catching his thoughts and feelings. I love how you have the souls talk to him too. It makes sense.

It's because it's so awesome! I loved loved loved it! You're so great at writing hoenheim! I loved that he listed out the periodic table while he was nervous or freaking out. Such a great touch! How it tied into the show and with ed was amazing too! Thanks for this story, I hope to see more soon, especially with hoenheim and Trisha and the boys! Thank you!
