Bravo for being original! I do wish you would continue this to cover the rest of Harry's school years, but I realize readers don't have enough information on people from orher years. Still...

This is epic. Can't wait for the next chapter. Little unsure how you're going to do the whole "escape from bindings" stuff. While there is an excellent opportunity after Neville kills Nagini, by that time all the action is over, the secrets are revealed, and all the sorting hat can do is have its own happy ending.

Interesting fic and idea for the story as I did wonder a few things about the sorting hat and your ideas seemed very realistic and matching to the books. Hope to see more from the chapters.

Well said about Remus he really is weakest of the pack why Harry did not ask him questions like why no visits or letter once at Hogwarts, where were you in 4th year.

Dementors are a really bad idea, chocolate sales had to be through the roof that year I as sure that is how Minister Fudge makes his non-bribe money by being the owner of the sweet shop.

Vane's plan was that long term, impessive I usually assumed she purchased the love potion from the twins now I think she made it herself. Still the whole beast in the chest does make me think Ginny slipped Harry a potion of some kind.

I liked finding out about how the hat is protected and its weaknesses. Fiendfire is my favourite example of magic, as for the Dementors everybody seems afraid of them except Albus. I now wonder if Harry with his own soul and Riddle's wore the hat on the train would the Dementor feast on all three or only be able to consume one.

A nice detail about the sword, Albus would not want to loose it.

A great line "So now I have to live with the knowledge that I am infested with mind-sucking fairy parasites, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it." but a good explanation for Luna being what she is.

A good point about the teachers and others not working things out but I think Albus wanted to test Harry again. He had a hard time of it in first year because of loosing points but second year is when he is really feared and hated in the magical world rather than in the muggle one. I think Harry reputation was damaged in second year and never recovered making it easier for people to doubt him or treat him as a threat.

I had wondered about the password as that is something Tom would say rather than Salazar.

A good name for Fawkes and that he is part of the castle rather than familiar to Albus as the Headmaster is very much a shade of grey rather than light.

An interesting point about the sword it does put a new spin on events to come.
