I definitely want to know what Mikael is hiding! As for Ariana's secret, I have a suggestion for you:

Ariana has been officially able to use use a wand away from school for a year, AND she comes from a wizarding family so any wand-use at home would not be detected, AND she's an excellent witch, top of her class... do you see where I'm going with this? She should hide and heal her bruises, BUT MIKAEL SOMEHOW KNOWS ABOUT THEM ANYWAY. That would freak her out, and also make a better way to introduce the subject to the readers.

Another suggestion: You've explained what makes Lupin attractive to Ariana, but what makes Ariana attractive to Lupin? If she's pretty, she's not the only pretty girl in the school, and she's not the only talented witch, either. We should see from Lupin's point of view what catches his eye.
