Reviews for Tribute
sleepinglionzz32 chapter 1 . 8/18/2018
Please do more fics on the Noldors, there's not many good ones out there
chisscientist chapter 2 . 8/1/2016
I can't imagine Gil-galad as being terribly impressed with that emissary either. He's probably glad Maedhros threw the man out, even if as High King he has to act with more tact himself. He probably wishes he could do likewise.
honorste chapter 1 . 1/22/2016
I have wanted somebody to yell at a Numenorean since I read the Silmarillion for the first time, so thank you. That particular line of kings managed to sucessfully breed brains out of their line, exhibit A: Sauron.
Great writing on this!
WalkingInTalaria chapter 2 . 5/22/2015
And a good end to a great story. You portrayed Maedhros beautifully in this story: fiery, blunt, and a little stiff at times, but not in any way cruel, unkind, or disloyal to Fingolfin's branch of the family.
WalkingInTalaria chapter 1 . 5/22/2015
Oh, that was FUN. Watching my all-time favorite elf steadily pound the poor emissary into the ground was priceless, so thank you for that.
chisscientist chapter 1 . 9/23/2014
Yeah, I can't see demands for tribute going over well with those two.
bob chapter 2 . 9/2/2014
Beautiful, please keep writing :)
HaloFin17 chapter 2 . 8/26/2014
You are so welcome, my friend! This was a particularly fun little tid-bit to read, and I'm glad you decided to add it. I like how Ereinion made a covert, surprise entrance, and I can definitely see him as a King who needs to break away from formalities and protocol every now and then.

But what strikes me most reading this is the difference between Elven and mortal rulers. An elf and a man might both foresee trouble in future centuries, and while the man may start to make preparations, he can still sleep peacefully at night because he knows nothing too bad will happen in his lifetime. Not so for the Elves. Any trouble they foresee, no matter how distant, will eventually be theirs to deal with. No wonder they grew weary, after carrying that burden for literally thousands of years.

Lovely job here!

Salome Maranya chapter 2 . 8/25/2014
By "trouble" he meant Sauron taking over, Melkor worship, human sacrifice, and all that, then eventually the Atlantis fate of NĂºmenor. Glad to see that you're still working on the Lingering series. I still can't get over the feeling of "They live! Like, f-yeah!" whenever I read your stuff.
Beledien chapter 2 . 8/25/2014
I love this fanfic because I love Maedhros. It's so well written and shows us a different reality where he's stil alive.

You're doing a great job, I will wait for the update
Salome Maranya chapter 1 . 3/12/2014
This is nice. I'm going to finish the series and comment later.
:) But I really like what you did here - them being alive and all.
Bramblclawhater8 chapter 1 . 9/25/2012
love
HaloFin17 chapter 1 . 8/4/2012
Oh my gosh, it is SO good to see Maedhros being strong in this one! Although short, it really packs a punch, and then you bring it back down to the heart of their close brotherhood at the end. Really, as fun as it is to see Maedhros exert himself again, I think the magic of this piece is how Maglor reacts, because that's what makes the reader's heart soar along with his.

Just as most things Tolkien himself writes, even at the height of power and triumph, there's still an undercurrent of something sad and lost which cannot be recovered or undone. It simultaneously warms my heart but also makes it ache for times gone by...powerful indeed.

Here's wishing you smooth travels during your move, and I do hope you can get back to feeling one hundred percent again very soon.
I'll be thinking of you, my friend!
Love,
Haley
Fortune Zyne chapter 1 . 8/2/2012
This is so awesome! It's a shame Elros legacy is coming to such a sad end, it must be especially hard for Maglor who raised the former King of NĂºmenor from his childhood.
Lia Whyteleafe chapter 1 . 8/2/2012
Feanor would be so proud... No, really, he would! Maedhros shows here that he is the firstborn son of the Spirit of Fire. I can just picture him standing there with his eyes blazing and his red hair shining.

He looked fey, dangerous, and fair, fulfilling every meaning of his mother's name 'Maitimo' - Love it!

...I hope Maedhros isn't going to regret that.
