It's a shame this story seems dead.

It's one of the few fics on this site that truly nails characterization, dialogue, and pacing. The characters seem like actual people, not single-minded robots used by an uncreative author to force a bland plot and cliche dialogue through. Robin and Batgirl are two of the funniest characters I've ever read about, and the natural banter between the former and Batman truly feels like a breath of fresh air. You can tell Batman and Diana have chemistry together, but it's hardly as if they're throwing themselves at each other (sorta). They've both had time to think and sorta move on, and I've enjoyed seeing them take some time to get back into the swing of things with their relationship. Harley isn't portrayed as """"Harley"""" per se; she's a sympathetic figure that I found myself surprised empathizing with and feeling sorry for. This same excellent characterization can be seen all across the board with your characters, and I only wish other authors would learn from your example.

Not only that, but of all the stories I've read covering the aftermath of the Tower of Babel, this one is by far the best yet. The arguments themselves are ones we're all familiar with, but you don't drag on and on about who's right and who's wrong. I love how you instead focused on the consequences of Batman's actions on the people that trusted him. I found Batman and Superman's confrontation to be genuinely cathartic in a way because, like I said, you didn't spend time going over the same arguments; instead we got to see how hurt and betrayed Superman was. You nailed Superman's reaction, how he agreed with the necessity of Bruce's actions, but not the lying and keeping of secrets, and I think you're the only author to properly understand (or at least show) the nuance of Batman's actions. It's nice to see characters actually using their damn brains and not having to read an author's one note, been there done that arguments. If this story ever gets updated in the future (fingers crossed), it'll be an early Christmas.
