Oh my god. This fandom is absolutely insane. My father figure (he was my greatgrand father) had dementia before he passed. In the end there were only four people he could remember. My great grandmother, my grandmother, my mother and myself. When he died I ended up with manic depression and I still have panic attacks (though the depression has passed thankfully) where all I can see is him but this story is so beautiful. I'm so glad people write story's like this. Thank you so much.

Wow, another incredibly interesting one!

I started crying reading this, it just struck so close to home and was beautifully written. My grandmother had Alzheimer's disease and so I never really knew her but I do know that my grandpa suffered, watching this woman he loved dearly slowly fade to nothing and I know my dad hurt when his mom didn't recognize him, and that she was confused. But that my family was strong and continued to try and give her a good life until she died. You did a wonderful job of showing those emotions. Perhaps not the same disease, or even the exact same symptoms but the feelings we're there and it was gorgeous. Thank you.

I'm sure someone has already said this, but this story reminds me so much of the movie 50 first dates. It's a good one if you've never seen it. It's so sad yet heartwarming when I read stories like this. I almost feel like if there was a cannon incident where Alfred needed help recovering or supervision, Arthur would be there in a heartbeat, grumbling all the while. XD
