Reviews for The Cassandra Effect
Ravenclaw Slytherin chapter 8 . 1/21/2019
I like your story! Update soon!
peccolia chapter 8 . 8/1/2018
I really enjoy the amount of care put into everything here—and the element of care present concerning all the characters. Nanako is an extremely good kind of person and her family is a healthy one, and she has a good and growing network of friends, too. Including the Ami trio! I’m still so glad they’re there with her! And Nonou makes an appearance, too! I wonder how Nanako will work her magic and fix things, there.

Well. It’s been a few years and name changes since I last reached this point. I read that you intend to partially complete this fic eventually, and I also read the note about your current situation. Your fic and a certain message on your profile about this fic were two things that deeply DEEPLY inspired and encouraged me to enter the world of SI fics and write my own, so I keep them both close to my heart. I want you to know that I enjoyed rereading this and do look forward to more, but if it ends here, I’m just happy I got to read (and reread) these eight chapters of a fascinating and compelling (and worrying) adventure with Nanako. I wish you the very best, and hope you soon find your way to recovery and a better place. Thank you so much for your hard work!

(Apparently only one signed-in review is allowed per chapter so here's a way around that I guess? I hope this last review didn't spam-post like 5 times. If it did, sorry!)
peccolia chapter 7 . 8/1/2018
BAD DREAM! So bad! Like, as in horrifying, but totally well-written. Wow, I hope that was only a dream and not some insidious foreshadowing. But the meet-up with the sannin was great—not for injured Nanako and the plan, but…well, actually, definitely yes for injured Nanako, since they saved her and all. If they hadn’t crossed paths, she may have met another early end, and so far away from her new home. But the Sannin—they all care so much! Even Orochimaru, in his own taciturn and Orochimaru-like way. I can’t wait to see how the return to Konoha with the Ame trio plays out!
peccolia chapter 6 . 8/1/2018
Lol, little hobo Nanako, huh? I guess she’s been through the wringer getting to Ame and looking for the trio. Also, was Hiruzen privy to this? I can’t imagine he’d agree to send his 4/5 year-old daughter away on such a mission, no matter what she knows, so this must be a purely Danzo scheme. But, then again…she wouldn’t keep it from her father, either. That would probably get in the way of the plan, if he was left in the dark and sent a pursuit team, because he seems to love her as much as he trusts her. Yeesh, must be so difficult for him to agree to something like this, as a father.

But the Ame trio are so cute! Really adorable. Love the way you write them, for sure. Nanako has instant chemistry with the group, and she cares a lot, too! Ugh, I don’t want to think about what would have happened if she hadn’t gotten to Konan in time… Good thing she did, though.
peccolia chapter 5 . 8/1/2018
Aw, the family moments are really cute! It feels like Nanako can actually just rest and enjoy being a kid/normal person around her mom and bro, not having to worry about the plan, the future, or Danzo. And he’s totally terrifying, so for me as a reader, these Slice of Life scenes are relieving breaks from the blips of interaction with him. And that scene at the end! God, he’s plotting, I just know it. He wants to get rid of any threat before it becomes a threat! He’d use her to do it, too! But his motives still remain to be seen. That aside, the way you write Minato and the other kids is just adorable.
peccolia chapter 4 . 8/1/2018
Yes! A plan is in motion. I really am glad Hiruzen is so on board and trusts in Nanako the way he does, but the proof from the Yamanaka also helps immensely. Like, familial trust is all well and good, but truth and hard facts can only strengthen it. Also, I’m so curious about whatever it was that blocked Inokatsu from her mind. Something serious, for sure. Perhaps there was more to her death than she remembers? Or something else happened in limbo, before she got dropped into Waterworld? Curious.

Ah, Danzo is the hard sell. But even if he says he doesn’t believe her, he still knows the info. Anything worse than a villain is an informed one, armed with the future! ‘Hypothetically’ or not. Still, this is an exciting development! I loved the Scheherazade/One Thousand And One Nights parallel, but I do wonder if that kind of scheme is crafty enough to dupe Danzo…can only hope, right? Also, Nawaki’s team seems pretty cool! They’re some tough cookies.
peccolia chapter 3 . 8/1/2018
I really do like that Nanako explained her situation right off the bat! It’s definitely a hard thing to do (admirable, for sure, but hugely risky too). I mean, things seem hopeful NOW but…but! What about later? She has the best of intentions, but will having Hiruzen on her side really help? Or, like he worries, will it make things worse? After all, knowing exactly what will happen is definitely a benefit, but change one thing, no matter how small, and the butterfly effect can take you right into uncharted territory where things will be out of your hands AND possibly worse than ever. But...possibly better... It's a gamble.

The flashbacks of Nanako’s memories were interesting! I love that she’s so fully developed and fleshed out as a character. When I get really absorbed into the story, it feels like she’s a real person sitting across from me in a lounge or some place and relaying this story to me.
peccolia chapter 2 . 8/1/2018
This family is so CUTE. Honestly. The part where Nanako thanked Biwako for making Aito and they all just had a good time over it? SO pure. So adorable. What a good family.

Ah yes, when your father is a shinobi and a teacher you get three automatic babysitters! Well, more like extended family, I guess. I really hope Nanako can change this world for the better (despite what the title implies, oh no!).
peccolia chapter 1 . 8/1/2018
It’s been a few years so I figured it’s time to check in with this fic again (mainly because, as I discovered just now, I only remember vague events and details—but that’s a good thing because it’s like a brand new story to me!) and I’m? in love? Nanako has such a strong character and perspective right from the start and the narrative just absorbs me right in. That’s some good stuff. Looking forward to the rest of the nostalgic reread!
seschnepper chapter 8 . 4/21/2018
This is an awesome story! I love how you’ve given Nanako actual struggles, and the relationships you’re forming between her and the canon characters seem very well thought out and realistic. You’re a great writer, and I hope you feel better soon
ProTaggingProperly chapter 1 . 11/21/2017
Oh, fanfiction! You never fail to present self-absorbed psyches of individuals as shown by how they write. Bravo. And here I thought, "semi-serious" means the author is not really taking her character that seriously. Self-aware enough to acknowledge this fic's ridiculousness. Tsk. I thought this was an enjoyable crack fic but no dice. Pity.
