The use of mobian is out of place, since their world is called Planet Freedom. Good story all the same. This is pretty much how I imagined the OVA-verse would be like if it were conceived today. You convey the tension within Knuckles very well. He's different from the Knuckles seen in other media, yet not so different. An intriguing character study for sure.

Clever "fix" for the differences!

An interesting idea. I never really wondered about OVA Knuckles' back story. I've watched the movie like, thrice, and I remember liking its Knuckles, but I didn't go as far as thinking his back story through.

I like your idea about it. It feel like it strikes a balance, somewhere in between the many different takes on Knux' background we've seen in canons and spinoffs. In most of them, Knuckles stays a character who never really comfortably fits with either of the roles he's been given. Games that remember his guardianship tend to not let him live his life, be with his friends. Games that let him take part in life outside an ancient duty promptly forget this duty still exists and is a part of his life and character that can't be simply ignored. The balance is the hard thing to achieve, and this story does a good job, working with the OVA background and the way it presents Knuckles and combining it with the game background we know for him.

I found this a refreshing read and a cool experience with a character I write so often myself. I like your look on Knux, suddenly so at ease with this balance between the parts of his life he is often so conflicted with in many stories, including my own.

Aw, beautiful. No one can ever quite nail Knuckles' backstory, for there are so many variables and things to speculate on, but this is one of the best interpretations I've ever seen! Suits Knuckles perfectly, from both his OVA side and his games side, even though they're incredibly different. It's just pure Knuckles, and that's all anyone can really ask for. :)

Woah. Neat story. I wondered why the OVA Knuckles was so different than the Knuckles portrayed in the games. This sums it up quite nicely.
