Thank you soooo much. I'm just rewatching the show and just finished this episode. I had almost forgotten just how much I hate Doris. Unbelievable that it's actually possible to hate a fictional character like that. I never liked her character and I never liked the way all the other character reacted to her. I was specifically looking for a story where Danny put her in her place, and you almost exactly got the feeling i was looking for. For me it could actually have ended on a more angry note. The last part almost made her seem likable again (I think I already mentioned I hate this character? :P).
So thank you very much, now I can sleep in peace.

Oh my god. I have a whole new perspective on the relationship between Steve and Danny. I never really thought of it that way but it makes a lot of sense. Awesome story by the way. Please write more like these!

Danny is just as rude and obnoxious as Doris so I thought they were a good match. I thought Doris had a lot more in common with Danny than Steve. I've never seen any father/son vibe between Danny and Steve. Why would Danny treat Steve like the son he never had, that just doesn't make sense to me.
I hope Doris is better written in her next appearance on the show.

You have Doris' self-righteousness down and I don't think she'll ever apologize for what she's done because she's so convinced she's right. And Steve does have her nosiness and bosiness but he is also wonderfully compassionate where as Doris seems more selfish.

Good for Danny for looking out for Steve and for telling Doris off and while she can point to all of Steve's accomplishments, she ignores his obvious pain. And how is she going to justify her leaving with what a screw up Mary is and that she's only gotten her life together in her 30's?
