God, this horribly voice mail. I think I'm going to erase my memory of the real event and switch it with your version. That is really a szene that needs to get embellished(?)! It's cruel that Sam and Dean never got enlightened about the real and the fake messages. Really, really cruel.

Ah, THANK YOU! thank you for writing the scene that need to be written, with all the confusion and misunderstanding and angst and little teeny fluff that we needed to get after those friggen voicemails. Jeez writers, putting something like that in there and then leaving everybody hanging with it over their heads (yep, season 8 and it still bothers me.). Great scene, very in character, and it feels like the perfect way to wrap up that loose end. Nicely done.

I love these stories of what is thought to have happened to that one thing that never got explained in the series; the message that Sam heard at the end of Season 4. I really enjoyed this story! :)

The phone message was something pivitol in the show that was Never dealt with and should have been. Then again, I guess that is what fan fic is for. Good job.

This is such a masterful and moving fanfic about what should have been a much needed conversation between the brothers in the aftermath of the season four finale.

Sam and Dean really needed to talk this over because of everything that stood between them since "Leeve" and "Lucifer Rising", and what with the different versions of the voice mail they left/heard, and you did a most awesome story of it, Clair! *adds roaring applause*

Your characterizations were spot-on and the way you lead the brothers around to realizing the message Dean left over the cell wasn't what Sam received was nothing but inspired. Particularly with all the things, good and bad, that followed in the wake of that single moment in time and how Dean, always the big brother, promised Sam they'd get through this, eventually although the younger Winchester unsurprisingly had difficulties believing that.

I'm still heartbroken over the way the brothers realized too late that both fractions, demons and angels, did their level best to manipulate them into whatever they wanted them to do/be, and then in the end, Sam and Dean just looked past it without ever truly clearing the air between them.

So in that regard, I also have to thank you for writing some form of conclusion that we never got on TV - and in such a marvellous way at that.

I have to say it every time Clair, you need to be writing for this show-your scenarios, the dialogue you give these two men is what we should be hearing in this show, not the evasive, deflective drivel we so often get.
This one almost made me cry and I tell you, I'd like Sam a whole lot better if he was your creature!

This made me realize (again) how screwed over the boys were back then by everybody - angels and demons alike. And it made me feel so sorry for Sam, always getting the brunt of the blame. Unfortunately, for me, season 8 doesn't seem like it is going to be much different from season 4 (sigh-even I am upset with Sam not even trying to find Dean). Nice story, loved it.
