Yup! I figured this all out and what you were trying to do before the first paragrapgh was finished. Sasuke just confirmed it for me and Kakashi's 'Dreams' were also a really big clue. If anything your author's note is more depressing knowing Obito died :(

I didn't expect to enjoy this since I'm usually huge on this pairing finally getting a happy ending but I love this so much despite that. It was weirdly intriguing. Like the dreams and then waking up more than once- how mythical. And poor Sasuke. He's the last person with sharingan and because of that he won't ever get his happy ending. I feel for this fic on so many levels.

I haven't yet caught up to the end of Naruto to be honest... I probably won't for a while. But I feel strongly for this story regardless. Its like one of those "be careful what you wish for" stories, with Obito as the star and Kakashi as the main character.

I think I feel the worst for Kakashi and Sasuke. Sasuke probably moved in and out of the dream world frequently due to his sharingan. But most likely lacked the power to do anything. He probably really did go insane just from knowing.. Kakashi had it a bit better, but more horrifying since he tended to forget his returns to reality... Its terribly sad.

I really enjoyed how it was written. It was strangely poetic.. And a great read, despite the depression g subject. I greatly enjoyed it, thanks for writing!

I feel sick to my stomach, but in a good way. This is such a dark, twisted "happy ending," and it really raises some questions about the nature of reality. Your theory about Obito killing Konan makes perfect sense; you have a great grasp of his character.

Geez, I shouldn't like this nearly as much as I do - happy endings are a big thing with me - but this is just...amazing. The little bits really make it, the nightmares, Kakashi's eye, just the fact that everyone is so /happy/. I got all emotionally invested in their perfect world, I was cheering for them, and then suddenly there was this darker edge to it, just enough to make me take notice. And then everything shattered.

And then Obito. God, Obito.

He's my favorite Naruto character hands down, and you portrayed him gorgeously. So short-sighted and blind, but at heart he wants to make everything good, make it /better/. I just - this tears me into tiny little pieces but it's so lovely that I just don't care.

"He's had a nightmare, but he can't remember." - That line. That line just made the whole story. Urgh. Thank you so much for this, I am awestruck.
