Oh my... This story makes me cry, actually cried at the point of old Sherlock's desparation... And I had not cried from reading a long time. You are really a genius, it is really so hard to write a time travel story and you make it just genius and make sense and so so sad and feels such revaluation from the old sherlock's point of view in the second ending. And the last line.. Did John been in another loop of rules and trials just to keep sherlock alive as well.. Why would you do such things to them..
This story deserves so so much more readers to read. And I can actually feel the feeling sherlock feels all those years, into old age, you did an impossibly marvellous job at that. I want to read all over again.

I do not understand the ending of this chapter. Could you tell me? So Sherlock just takes the stupid pill and dies, right? It's incomplete as we didn't get to see John's reaction.

As many times as I've read and cried over this, I never realized there was an alternate ending! I still like the original story best, but this was good, also.

Seriously, one of my favorite stories ever. The only story that's ever made me cry.

About halfway through I was thinking of how beautifully written this is, and how you capture the characters perfectly, and this is how Sherlock would react and etc.

And then the story just kept going.

Stabbing at my heart and my vocabulary.

I think my hand was over my mouth for most of it.

Until all I was left with at the end...was...

P.S. Sherlock's grieving schedule. Ugh. Gah. Perfect. Absolutely perfect, in character, tragic and just...ah! And then repeating the line about crying after not allowing himself to see John...I could recount this whole story if I were to go back and cite all the brilliant, beautiful and heartbreaking parts.

This is so beautifully written that it really hits the reader's emotions hard... Amazing work of writing! Keep it up!

I am 90% positive that alt endings are supposed to make things -better- not worse! *curls up into a ball in the corner and cries* This is beautifully terrible and if it wasn't so well done I might just hate you for this

Holy shit. Suprize twist ending if there ever was one. It's like something out of the twilight zone!

You needn't be sorry. You've mearly put everyone's hearts through a meat grinder. Ah. This is good, but painful. I hope there's at least some resolution in the next chapter.

when I finally stop reading I was surprised to see it was only one chapter... you wrote this so good... it felt like a life-time reading... I felt the weight of all those years... I'm not sure If I want to read the alt ending... this was terribly beautiful and sad...

Damn! Both endings made me depressed! I want to go and cry in my room for a whole week! Just a question, which John and Sherlock acted out the final scene, it got me confused...

Oh my God, this story. THIS. It is so filled with emotion and feeling that I've let tears fall multiple times. It also blows my mind. The way it's sort of like a cycle. And I loved old Sherlock interacting with young Sherlock. The way he teaches Sherlock to understand what separation from John feels like, was just beautiful. It's been awhile since I've read a story that was this emotionally moving. I love it; please tell me there is more. The end was slightly confusing, with John. So far, spectacular. CCE
