it'd be cool if Arthur snuck away - without telling Merlin - to go live in Ealdor for a week with Merlin's mom to really take in the life of a servant, appointing Merlin as commander or whatever during his absence to give him a taste of wealth.

Uuuuuggggghhhhhh I love it I love you I love your style of writing and portrayal of the characters why can't I just spend forever sitting here reading your fanfics. PLEASE write some kind of long, ongoing story with tonnes of chapters so I can just read it for hours. Maybe a kind of 'if Arthur lived' one? Maybe tying into the events of Onsægness? Love it!

Instead of crying, as with reading your previous stories, I'm laughing right now! I love the ending on this one.

The reaction of Arthur when Merlin was done ranting was priceless, not what you would've expected (just as Merlin didn't expect that). It just shows how much he really wants to change to be a great king one day. And that he holds great respect for Merlin for standing up to him and show him the errors he makes when necessary. I absolutely loved how Arthur asked Merlin to criticize him in public if he stepped out of bounds again. Yes Arthur, you've definitely changed in a better man since you've met Merlin.

I couldn't help but notice there are some errors in the story. There are typos, but the most annoying ones are verbs or words that are missing. That makes it somewhat difficult to read, don't you agree? Here they are in order of appearance:
Chapter 1:
"It's wearing thing all over." ( thin)
"He went gather up the pieces of Arthur's armor..." ( went TO gather)
"He saw there were severely dents and scratches..." ( several)
"...or a farmer of a maid..." ( OR a maid, this one had me in stitches :D)
Chapter 2:
"...from anyone who would disapproval of his normal cheeky insolence." ( disapprove)
"...and I them to know that I see it that way." ( I WANT them...)
"Maybe if see that I'm willing to take your advice into consideration..." ( Maybe if THEY see)
"I can't stand it when servants so submissive and nervous..." ( when servants ARE)
That's all of them. I know I'm a nitpick on these kind of things, but I just can't keep quiet when these little things can be easily fixed. I just love fics without errors I guess. It's up to you if you want to fix them of course.
