Fragging. Brilliant. It makes a lot of sense really, giving reasons as to why a mech who supposedly has no emotional drive to speak of would befriend anyone. The whole concept of literally taking over a mech's life like that is simply fascinating as well. Well, more like "inheriting" it. XD Exceptional work!

Even thought I'm not a fan of this kind of parring (I like ProwlXJazz parrings the best) I do like the idea you had on Prowl's background, it's quite interesting.

Beautiful, a little sad but very understandable how Prowl feels... I think in the end most would forgive him, after all he didn't kill the "old" Prowl and didn't lie about being himself. He just took an opportunity.
Another thing I really like is the pairing. I ship Jazz/Prowl myself, but you gave Ratchet and Prowl such a deep relatioship that I can not only see this working but love it. :)

I have to admit, I've never seen this take on Prowl. Certainly a very original background.
