bttffan chapter 1 . 7/11/2014
I have to say this is probably my favourite story about the long time Doc had to wait in order to be reunited with his friend again and of course the way they met! Appears totally plausible for the BTTF universe.
I couldn't stop smiling at the end as well:
"Can I still call you Doc?" Gotta love young Marty!
LadySilverSnitch chapter 1 . 7/6/2014

timeroulettego chapter 1 . 3/4/2013
Great backstory, really believable which is always important.

One note to add to one of the other reviews, though - I don't think Marty's letter in the movie mentioned anything about people from Libya, just that Doc needed to watch out for 'terrorists', so another reason why he probably wouldn't have met them until a few weeks before the film. Other than that though - great to read, is there going to be a second chapter or just a oneshot?
WhisperingFantasies chapter 1 . 2/19/2013
This is so great! I really love how you went about it!
Bob Wright chapter 1 . 1/30/2013
A pretty good guess of what the Doc's interregnum may have been. Give yourself credit.

This is a very interesting story, but I'd like to point out a few errors to you.

1. Doc didn't sell his mansion, it burned down. In the first scene of Back to the Future Part I, when the camera shows us Doc's garage, a newspaper clipping reads 'Brown Mansion Destroyed'. This happened approximately in 1962.

2. It's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, not 10,000.

3. This one isn't a real mistake, but just something I wanted to point out to you. You said Dave was George's father's name. In the Back to the Future fan community, most authors have his name be Arthur (and George's mother is Sylvia), a name first used in the novelization of BTTF and later confirmed by the Back to the Future game. But of course, since neither of those sources are canon, you don't have to use Arthur, I just wanted to point it out to you.

4. I'm not sure about this one, but I always got the impression that since the Libyans stole plutonium only two weeks before the great experiment (as seen in the television broadcast in that very scene in Part I that I referred to earlier) Doc would likely only get entangled with them a few weeks or at most a month or two before the experiment itself. I never got the idea that Doc had had secret contacts with Libyan nationalists so long before October 26th, 1985.

But as I said, it's a very interesting story. Good job.
