Reviews for The Potion
Elphaba Thropp of Oz chapter 1 . 6/16
This is so sad! Is there a sequel?
Guest chapter 1 . 2/25/2017
Wow! That was moving. I like the idea of Snape using his potions abilities like that.

So Beuatiful
excessivelyperky chapter 1 . 11/9/2015
Yes, Lily wants James and Sev to be friends. But she somehow forgets that James said ‘don’t make me hex you, Lily’ and ‘because he exists’. It wasn’t James hanging upside down having his pants stripped off in front of half the school.

And yet Lily thinks James is better somehow. Um, really?

Of course, he is richer and has better looks…but of course Lily would never be that petty. No, never.

Sadly, Snape is going to sacrifice the rest of his life for a girl who says she’s fair and forgiving but somehow…isn’t.
Snapelover chapter 1 . 7/20/2015
So he drank his potion extensively at the end?! Awesome. Explains a lot ;p LOL. Siriusly though, I loved this!

Well done. I don't have anything else to say right now except I think I'm going to have to read that again. You captured the emotions very well. I'm so glad I decided to read this.
devikaa chapter 1 . 6/5/2014

shigurefan101 chapter 1 . 4/20/2014

M. Vernet chapter 1 . 11/18/2013
Awwwwwwww, what a treasure! I adore Snape. All those years ago I knew he wasn't bad, use to debate it with my kids all the time. That's why he still loved Lily "after all this time" Sweet, sweet, sweet! you make me want to write down my alternate Harry Potter ending where Severus lives!
Scratch100 chapter 1 . 10/24/2013

There are some HP stories I read and think that the author has done the original series justice - it is a rare one where I am sure they have surpassed the original - this story is one of the latter. I reread the HP series for the plot and as a reminder - I have reread this already for the flow, the prose, the whole feeling - as well as heard the podfic.

You always seem to be able to pick on my favourite characters and do them justice. This is Severus at his most self-deluded best. He believes so strongly that what he is doing is right and good for them both. And the potion he brews is so believable - not just the carefully chosen ingredients, but the way they are brewed and served - every detail has been thought about. And his reason for having brewed it is given in the story without having to signpost or have flashing lights over it.

Favourite phrases/passages: the whole first paragraph for the wonderful scene setting and description; 'What was so important that it was worth burning off my eyebrows?' (how did she say that without laughing!?); 'my patronus is a plate of roast venison' (how did *he* say that without laughing!?); 'Snape's eyes sparkled as he gazed greedily'; 'we would share a love of the kind that legends are made of'; and, as last lines go, that one was a killer.

Is there anything I'd change? Maybe only a little Anglicising, but then I'd be in the minority of people who'd even notice.

I don't understand why other reviewers are not accepting this as complete, standing on its own merits. It's great as it is and I have no doubt you will be writing other stories that get me in the gut just as much, but leave this one alone.

This is a story that I would point out to anyone writing HP stories of this ilk as a good example. I highly recommend checking out the podpic too. Always great to hear you read your works. I love all the inflections and dramatic pauses, always in the right places. So atmospheric.
