I like how Eustace is becoming a nicer person while still being...well...Eustace.

This reminds me of the one line we get that explains why Eustace is so mean to courage (aside from his crapsack childhood)
“She always loved you best,”
God this show scarred me as a kid but it always breaks my heart now a days.

I feel it, I FEEL IT! This was the same thing that happened to a friend of mine, his Labradorean retriever survived a car crash with his family, human 'mother and father', but the mother died shortly thereafter and the dad and dog were about to live a hard life with out her. Just...the FEELS.

This... made me so happy and sad all at the same time. The writing was just gorgeous, I LOVED the bittersweet ending. Something I've always wanted to see in the show, Eustace treating Courage with SOME civility. Just. So. Touching. Characterization was PERFECT. This is how everyone would act. Bravo, I say, sir! Bravo!
