Oh my goodness! What an amazing one shot.. where to start with the things I loved! The first paragraph got me immediately, mostly because of how you drop us head first into Phil's mind, his limitations and the beautiful description of what he senses, and from there I just love how you shift perfectly between narrative and Phil's mind, particularly as he half-hears Dan. There are many fics around where one person is in a coma but rarely is the perspective of the comatose person satisfactory.. but you've done it so perfectly! He isn't there in the room with them but he is, sort of stuck and at the same time so in-tune with Dan and his fight to keep Phil there.. stuff like 'I started to become aware of voices more clearly than before, had my friend brought other's to tease me. I was scared now, perhaps my friend wasn't an angel. I really should open my eyes. Then like a cacophony of discordant instruments the voices hit me properly. I understood them for the first time! Dan? And someone else' UGH I just love it so much, the sentence length, choice of words- it's so perfect? And fits wonderfully in with the one-shot style :) :) amazing work my friend! Definitely one I will return to read again :)
