Foxcat93 chapter 21 . 8/8/2019
Wow! This was a very different and creative Dark Shadows story. I fortunately came upon the story after it was completed, so I did not have to wait for the next chapters. I kept reading till it was finished.

I like the odd characterization of Julia and Barnabas as very different people, yet the same. I never would have thought of that, but it fit perfectly. And although the story was bloody, I liked it a lot. The ending was great, Julia ending up with Barnabas and Jack ending up with Jessica. I wasn't surprised that Stephen was the only one who became a vampire, considering the slews of people that Barnabas bit and killed. Or maybe they did? Anyway, that valley deserved to be burned. LOL

All in all, it was a great story. I usually don't like blood and gore and this one had it... a ton of it, but still it was a great story, well thought out, with an excellent ending. Keep up the good work!

I'm here finally!
Broken pieces of banister always make good weapons, imho. At least C missed B's heart. That's gotta hurt whether you're supernatural or not .
And Julia comes to the rescue-good! I love strong women characters.
Followed by a sweet and passionate love moment. Just sayin', maybe Julia should take just a minute to wrap up that wound before he bleeds out. Always liked B&J as a couple. I am definitely plugging this on Fanfiction Friday to the B&J shippers on Facebook.
An exciting, action-filled climax and a happy ending, still reminds me of Tarantino. Barnabas Unchained. lol
I like the ambiguous ending. Never went for the hearts and flowers stuff myself. Like a Friday ending of the DS series. A cliffhanger to bring 'em back Monday afternoon.
This was so enjoyable, I'm going to read the whole thing again when I have a chance; I'm sure there's things I'd forgotten. Maybe you'll be inspired to write something again soon (in less time). Something short for the Fanzine would be awesome.
Hugs, MM

Hey! It's been so long! This was a tidy ending where our protagonists found their happiness. I really enjoyed this story. Good job! So will there be a sequel soon?
mtinpa2005 chapter 20 . 5/7/2016
I know you haven't updated since last year but will the final chapter ever come? The story is a real grabber.
mad margaret chapter 20 . 5/17/2015
Barnabas is back on the hooker diet. First he steals the serum, then dumps Julia-worst vampire boyfriend ever. And always so damned depressed. I'm pretty sure Julia could do better. But I guess she's soft on him because he resembles Shadrach. And Barnabas decides to get his act together and return to Noir Valley. Better hurry, because the town is about to be in deep shit. OH NO! Not another eyeball gone astray. At least Jack will look cute with a eye patch. Barnabas comes to the rescue in Barnabas style-by tearing everyone to pieces. Well, you promised blood and gore, and delivered. Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Julia is tied to a chair, signifying this is truly a Dark Shadows story: All the women wind up tied to something at sometime. Christian reminds me of that creepy Leviathan child, Michael. What a great character your little devil is. Back to the streets: Mob mentality is the plague personified: excellent line. Well, it took razing the town and mutilation to get Jack to propose to Jessica, but they will live messily ever after. So sweet. Now Django Unchained-I mean Barnabas-must rescue his lady love and charges into the mansion. "You petulant idiot! You deplorable villain! You piece of shit! LOL! But Julia is not a helpless female-Yay for strong women characters! And just as they were about to have a bittersweet, sentimental moment, another cliffhanger ending! Hope the next chapter doesn't take as long to show up. :)

Wow! Barnabas was rampaging like crazy! But I loved it :) Looking forward to the final showdown, sanpan. I'm so giddy for it _
mad margaret chapter 19 . 1/1/2015
Poor Julia can't cut a break. Always falling in love with the bastards who use her and lose her and break her poor madame heart. Not to mention stealing her serum cure. Well, serum not cure-serves him right.

Meanwhile, back to Stephen, evil man may have met his match with evil eyeball-squishing child. He's been losing it for awhile, have the governor fall apart in his parlor, may be what sends him over the edge. Another "serves him right."

"I am the bringer of the plague." Dun-dun-DUNNNNN! Perfectly crafted scene. Stephen has his soul sucked by the ultimate evil force. And...his name is Christian. Excellent.

Back to the remorse vampire. It's cool to get a little or his mysterious backstory (well, mysterious for this story) and we a glimpse into why he is so melancholy. Still, he could lighten up occasionally. Julia falls for the act anyway, but he could cut her a break. I hope he'll be back.

More crap for poor Julia. Because her day wasn't bad enough. Her place of business is set upon by crazy Chanson and his backup angry mob and set ablaze. Now she and all the girls will have to move in with the undertaker. That should pick up business for Jack. A town so cursed, even a vampire won't stay. LOL.

Chanson, you did not just kill the cute undertaker. I hope he didn't get shot anywhere important. Thanks for letting us know he lives. Then can only hope Julia slaps down the evil child and watch C&C bloodshed battle. Yay!
Helena Clara Bouchet chapter 19 . 12/24/2014
Wow! And just in time for Christmas :D That little boy (or demon) is one creepy...whatever he is. Looks like all hell is about to break loose again, and I'm here for the ride. Especially for that Chanson vs. Barnabas. Will we learn more of Barnabas and how he found, or wandered, into Noir Valley? Like what made him leave Collinsport, you know?
mad margaret chapter 18 . 9/12/2014
Uh oh, Angry - mob - run! They'll be back with torches. Superstitious mobs led by crazy people almost never turn out well. Jack and Barnabas were fortunate to make it back to Wyndcliffe unscathed. Now badass Julia will protect them. Stephen is sinking deeper and deeper into the pit of insanity. That boy is one tap dance away from a straight jacket. He's haunted by Shadrach and/or Barnabas and having naughty thoughts about his cousin. Wondering if he ends up murdered or hopelessly insane. Both, I hope. Meanwhile, back at the brothel, Julia gets to begin her day being called the devil's whore, and it's probably going to go downhill from there. Again, they're lucky the mob didn't just torch the building while they were trapped in there. And you leave us guessing once again as to what the hell just happened in the last scene. Who is the mysterious boy and the horrible image of the governor. Was is a nightmare? Stephen's crazy mind at work - or is the devil afoot?
Helena Clara Bouchet chapter 18 . 9/8/2014
Well, Stephen seems to have the plague all right. I wonder if the governor was really there or was he hallucinating his head falling to the floor, but I would love to know more about that boy. This was an interesting taste of whatever is going to come, and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for another chapter :)
Lady Adama chapter 18 . 9/7/2014
Wow! Just wow! This chapter is fantastically written and with one hell of a cliffhanger. Poor Julia.
mad margaret chapter 17 . 7/4/2014
You think the woman is smart, practical, has common sense-then she gives all her money to a man, and not just any man, but the wealthy, powerful Shadrach. NOOOO! Great flashback sequence. So Chanson was responsible for Julia's downfall. Big surprise.

So Stephen isn't the only dick. It runs in the family. Nice getting more backstory for Julia and then Jack as well. Then Julia gets some feels for killing her old friend, Dave, only-thank god-not all whiny, angsty like in the series. She and Jack are both voices of practicality in this story, which is good, 'cause Barnabas needs that.

Stephen has an eerie, really creepy nightmare. Awesome. Followed by a tender moment for Barnabas and Julia. Yes, now would not be a good time to get rid of his supernatural powers. Nice allusion to sister Sarah.

"I shot my uncle. I buried a man inside a brick wall. I attacked my beloved and she fell off a cliff." LOL. He sounds so casual rattling off his murder resume. Awww, Jack thinks of Julia as his mother. Wonder if that gets him a discount in the brothel. He's looking out for her feelings. And please don't throw her off a cliff. B&J are such a cute couple.
Helena Clara Bouchet chapter 17 . 6/30/2014
I'm looking forward to it. Poor Julia. I felt bad for her when she had the flashback dream of how Chanson treated her. I thought about the show when Barnabas was cruel to her when he knew she was in love him, so that part kind of mirrored it for me. And I loved the flashback to Jack and Julia's bond, and how he cares about her, even asking Barnabas to not hurt her. So, did Chanson molest Esther? I'm kind of getting that vibe in his "conversation" with her. Great job! ;)
mtinpa2005 chapter 16 . 5/21/2014
Great story.
Is it the end?
There's more coming right?
mad margaret chapter 16 . 5/21/2014
Loved the opening scene, a perfect mix of dialouge and subtext. Stephen really is the ultimate villian, complete with evil sidekick. Did you have a DS actor in your mind when writing him or is he a completely OC? And he really knows how to make an entrance: with a bullet and a human battering rams. Holy Tarantino, the body count took a big jump! Unfortunately Stephen was not among them. As I neared the end of the chapter, saying to myself, aw, where's Jack? He shows up and saves the day (which was unexpected and fun), in addition to racking up some business. Nice, touching moment at the end with Barnabas and Julia; you just have to ship those two.

PS: Excellent use of Shakespeare quote. :)
